September 🤍🍂

A month of new beginnings, changing routines and lots of big feelings.

To the parents watching their little ones walk through the school gates again…

To those dropping their baby off at nursery for the very first time, holding back the tears until you’re back in the car…

To the parents returning to work and wondering how on earth you’re supposed to switch that part of your brain back on…

To the little ones starting somewhere new, and the bigger ones moving into their next chapter…

And to anyone simply trying to find their feet again after the summer, we’re thinking of you 🤍

September can feel exciting, emotional, overwhelming and hopeful all at once.

Be gentle with yourselves while everyone adjusts. New routines take time, and you’re all doing better than you think ❤️

I know I haven’t experienced motherhood for myself just yet but I know so many mums on here are in the thick of it every single day 🤍

The tired days, the overwhelming days, the days where you question if you’re doing enough… all while being someone’s whole little world 🥺

I can only imagine how hard some days must feel but also how one little cuddle, smile or “mummy” can make it all feel worth it.

I saw this quote and just thought it might be something a mum on here needed to read today ❤️

For all the mummies giving so much of themselves every single day… I hope you know just how special you are to those little people who call you Mummy 🥺🤍 ###

There’s SO much pressure to feel like we should constantly be doing things with our babies to help their development… when actually, so much of the good stuff happens in the really normal everyday moments 🤍

Chatting away during a nappy change, singing the same song for the 100th time 😂, copying their little noises, getting face-to-face… but also just stopping and giving them time to respond.

That back-and-forth might seem like nothing, but it’s where so much early communication, connection and bonding starts 🥹

And a huge part of it is simply tuning into your baby. Are they interested? Do they want more? Are they turning away and telling you they’ve had enough?

You don’t need to entertain them every second or have loads of activities planned. You’re both just getting to know each other 🤍

Which feels very relevant right now with Eliza officially in the newborn bubble and me not far behind, this feels like a good reminder for us too.

Less pressure to “do it all”… and more time just watching, responding and getting to know the little person in front of you 🫶

Why do babies LOVE black & white so much? 🖤🤍

In the early weeks, babies’ eyesight is still developing. Bold, high-contrast patterns are easier for them to see and focus on than lots of similar colours and tiny details.
And this is exactly why we love using black & white resources with little ones!

My nephew (Eliza’s baby!) baby Levi was only 10 days old when we popped a black & white book in front of him and he was completely mesmerised 🥹 (those little eyes were LOCKED on!).

Looking at high-contrast patterns gives babies an opportunity to practise focusing, looking and eventually tracking things with their eyes as their visual skills develop.

One of our favourites in class is our beautiful black & white sensory parachute designed the amazing Elizabeth Elizabeth • Sensory Parachutes ™️• Baby & Toddler Classes. It’s one of the more simple designs but one of the most captivating and developmentally beneficial for those tiny little babies.

And it really doesn’t need to be complicated.
At home, you can get your hands on a black & white book or some simple cards.

Such simple play, but with a lovely developmental purpose 🙌

One of our most asked questions has always been “WHERE do you store all your Twinnies Minis stuff?!”
Well… for nearly two years, this was the answer !!!! 😭

Our second bedroom slowly became the unofficial Twinnies Minis stock room and yes, I know it looked like absolute chaos…but to me it was the most organised mess ever 😂

I knew where every single little thing was. Monkey ears? Right-hand corner. Inflatable bananas? Next to the cowboy hats. Need some random accessory we ordered 8 months ago and forgot existed? Give me 30 seconds 😂

And weirdly, walking into this room always made me so happy. There was just something about seeing everything we’d collected for Twinnies Minis all in one place. Although looking back, I think it’s safe to say we had a SLIGHT obsession with ordering new stuff and I do think it could have been stored a bit more neatly 😂

But with baby on the way and this room needing to become the nursery, it was finally time to tackle it.
Of course I decided to do this in the middle of a heatwave 🥵 So after a lot of sweating, sorting, bagging up (the very unglamorous side of running your own business!) and my husband being promoted to Twinnies Minis removal man (as well as his 20 other unofficial job titles for TM), we got everything organised and moved into its new temporary home… my childhood bedroom at my mum’s 😂 Sorry Mum x

It actually felt so strange and a little emotional seeing the room completely empty after nearly two years of Twinnies Minis taking over every corner. But we’re only taking a little break and knowing what this room is about to become makes it SO exciting.

And just like that… we finally have our second bedroom back 🥹🤍
Next stop: Nursery 🩷✨
