Today, the members of the Grupo de Señoras Chilenas (Group of Chilean Ladies) were welcomed by Ambassador Diego Paulsen during their monthly meeting at the Embassy.

They discussed the importance of organisations such as this one in bringing Chileans together in the UK, maintaining an active connection with their home country, and supporting communities in need in Chile through fundraising - something the Group of Chilean Ladies has been doing successfully for decades.

The Embassy of Chile in the United Kingdom is delighted to invite you to the London launch of Hispanic Coetzee: World Literature Beyond the Anglosphere, the new book by Chilean scholar, author and translator Cristóbal Pérez Barra, published by Edinburgh University Press.

In this original study, Pérez Barra offers the first comprehensive interpretation of Nobel Prize-winning author J. M. Coetzee's work from a Hispanic perspective, revealing the profound influence of Spanish-language and Hispanic literary traditions on one of the world's most celebrated contemporary writers – including engagement with the works of literary figures such as Miguel de Cervantes, Pablo Neruda, and Jorge Luis Borges.

🇨🇱🔬 Ambassador Diego Paulsen welcomed Florencia Cortés, Raimundo Illanes and Monsterrat Sierra, students from Capellán Pascal School in Viña del Mar, who are representing Chile at the 67th London International Youth Science Forum (LIYSF) 2026.

The students shared with the Ambassador their experience delivering a presentation at the Research Poster Project Session and taking part in the Science Forum Bazaar, where they had a chance to share their talent and innovative ideas.

Ambassador Diego Paulsen presented his credentials to IMO Secretary-General Arsenio Domínguez, officially becoming Chile's Permanent Representative to the International Maritime Organization - IMO). 🇨🇱🌊

This milestone reaffirms Chile's strong commitment to the International Maritime Organization's work in advancing maritime safety, environmental protection and sustainable shipping.

As a nation with a deep maritime vocation, Chile recognises the IMO's vital role in shaping global shipping standards; considering more than 90% of our exports are transported by sea.
Chile has been a member of the IMO since 1972, has served on its Council (Category C) since 2001, and was re-elected for the 2026–2027 term.

Ambassador Diego Paulsen attended the official launch of FIDAE 2028 at the Farnborough International Airshow 2026, alongside a Chilean Air Force delegation led by Major General Miguel Stange Muñoz, President of FIDAE, and Colonel Carlos Salazar, Executive Director of FIDAE, as well as Chile's Air Attaché in the UK, Group Captain Rodrigo Grunert.

The event highlighted FIDAE's role as Latin America's leading aerospace, defence and security exhibition, fostering international cooperation, innovation and industry partnerships.
During the visit, the Ambassador also met with the Chilean delegation at the Embassy and toured the airshow. Together they explored emerging technologies, strengthening ties with industry partners, and promoting FIDAE 2028 internationally. 🇨🇱✈️

Ambassador Diego Paulsen attended a religious service at our Embassy in memory of Suboficial Mayor (Sergeant Major) Marco Cosme, who was posthumously promoted after losing his life in the line of duty while serving Chile.

The service was officiated by Reverend Paul Kennedy, Rector of St Vedast -alias-Foster, and included reflections by Police Attaché Patricio Aguayo and Ambassador Diego Paulsen, who honoured Suboficial Mayor Cosme's life, sacrifice and unwavering commitment to public service.

The ceremony also paid tribute to the men and women of Carabineros de Chile, who risk their lives every day to serve and protect communities across Chile.

We extend our deepest condolences to Suboficial Mayor Cosme's wife, family, friends and colleagues, and honour the courage, dedication and service of all those who wear the Carabineros uniform.

Ambassador Diego Paulsen had a fruitful meeting with Jeremy Browne, CEO of Canning House.

Canning House is the UK's leading forum for informed comment, contacts and debate on Latin American politics, economy and business. For over 80 years, it has worked to build understanding and relationships between the United Kingdom, Latin America and Iberia. As such, they are close collaborators of the Chilean Embassy, and have supported us in organising talks, meetings and lectures for Chilean Presidents, Ministers and businesspeople.

Ambassador Paulsen and Jeremy Browne discussed upcoming opportunities to work together and to raise the profile of Chile within relevant British stakeholders.
