💡 A new inspection report has just been published, reviewing the performance of St Helens Borough Council SEND Children's Services.

It was authored in response to an inspection by OFSTED and the Care Quality Commission in Jan/Feb 2026.

It’s important to be clear about the context around this SEND inspection report, and we understand certain issues have since been resolved.

The inspection itself took place under the previous Labour administration, at a time when they had full control of the council and accountability for the service. However, the findings have only now been released - after the election.

We should also be clear: these issues did not appear overnight. They are the result of long-standing challenges that were not addressed at the time.

That said, our focus is not on deflecting responsibility.

We are serious about fixing this.

We are committed to:

- Understanding the full scale of the issues

- Working openly with families, schools and partners

- Putting in place a clear and accountable improvement plan

- Holding a SEND roundtable with key stakeholders

We will also be bringing forward a detailed improvement plan later this year, setting out exactly how we will address the issues identified and drive real change.

Residents deserve honesty, and more importantly, they deserve a service that works.

This administration is focused on delivery, improvement, and getting results for children and families.

Join us on Saturday 20th June at Victoria Park as we come together to honour the incredible men and women who have served, and continue to serve, our country.
From the military parade and live music to displays and family-friendly entertainment, it promises to be a fantastic day for all ages.

It’s a chance to say thank you to our Armed Forces, veterans, reservists and military families for their dedication, sacrifice and service.

We have been picking up loads of issues from residents as we speak to you each day. Where we can take action immediately we will do but most we will address if we are elected. There are significant areas where we will be focussing on as the area has been terribly neglected.

Well just a few days left until the town centre ward council election on 25th June 2026. However postal votes are being delivered right now. Remember that you have 2 votes in this election so you can vote for Chris Page and Jeremy Axworthy to get 2 Reform councillors. Get those postal votes in St Helens needs Reform!

Local businesses are experiencing a downward trend in business and fear the worst. After visiting 40 businesses in the town last week the message was clear the town centre is dying. Foot traffic is down to the lowest seen in years.
Those businesses in the bottom of town are fighting not only the dust and noise from the area where the shopping centre once stood. Along with the lack of customers they are hanging on by a thread.
