READ ALL ABOUT IT...Our first Intercultural Cross-border Inclusion (ICI) Programme newsletter is out! 💫

The ICI Programme is the biggest single initiative we have ever undertaken. Since launching in January, we and our fantastic partners at Rural Community Network INAR - Irish Network Against Racism Donegal Intercultural Platform MSCNI MSCNI have been busy delivering:

🌍 Workshops and school visits
⚽ Sports celebrations
📚 Upskilling events
🧰 Anti-racism toolkits
💬 Discussion circles
🧹 Litter picks
🎉 Family fun days
🏛️ Engagement with policy-makers
🤝 Community conversations

We’ve already achieved so much, but there is still so much more to do.

Our first newsletter captures some of the work, stories and activity taking place across the programme. Read all about it here:https://nwmf.org.uk/wp-content/uploads/2026/08/ICIP-newsletter-August-2026.pdf

The ICI Programme is supported by PEACEPLUS, a programme managed by Special EU Programmes Body - SEUPB

FEELING SAFER...Thank you to Peter, one of Derry's Community Safety Wardens, who joined us this morning to give a very informative talk to our members. It was great to hear exactly what the wardens do and how they are keeping our city and district safe but also the difficult situations they often face in the line of duty.

Peter is pictured with staff and volunteers of the North West Migrants Forum.

The talk was an element of our Intercultural Cross-border Inclusion Programme, supported by PEACEPLUS, managed by Special EU Programmes Body - SEUPB.

Thank you as well to Derry & Strabane PCSP for helping arrange the visit. We look forward to working the PSCP again in the future.

For the fifth year, The North West Migrants Forum is proud to bring you our Black History Month programme and this year, it’s bigger than ever!

Under our theme “Learning Together: Knowing Changes Everything,” October will be a month of celebration, learning, reflection and powerful conversations.

🥳We will honour and celebrate our communities and their contributions.

📚 We will explore how education can transform our society.

🤝 And we will bring communities together to listen, learn and challenge ourselves.

And the speakers! 👀🔥

We are incredibly excited about the calibre of experts and changemakers joining us this year ,including international speakers travelling from the United States and England to share their knowledge, experiences and expertise.

Speaker announcements begin on 1st September 2026 and trust us, you’ll want to watch this space!

It’s bigger. It’s better. It’s engaging. It’s thought-provoking. And it’s global.

COMMUNITY LITTER PICK...The North West Migrants Forum is organising a community clean-up for Derry this Friday.

Part of the charity’s Intercultural Cross-border Inclusion Programme, the litter pick will create an opportunity for people from different backgrounds to come together and get to know each other.

The ICI Programme is supported by PEACEPLUS which is managed by Special EU Programmes Body - SEUPB. Launched in January, it is a partnership between five organisations – North West Migrants Forum, Donegal Intercultural Platform Rural Community Network INAR - Irish Network Against Racism and MSCNI MSCNI

By organising the litter pick event, the North West Migrants Forum hopes to demonstrate that Derry’s streets are for everyone and that every member of the local community is valued equally.

The litter pick will assemble at Brooke Park at 9.45am before setting off at 10am. It will finish at noon with refreshments and a light lunch in North West Migrants Forum.

All equipment will be provided and everyone is welcome to join what promises to be a fun morning of litter collection and community connection.

FOOD FOR THOUGHT...It was back to school for our Intercultural Cafe trainees today with Mark from Craft NI-Training teaching the class.

The topic was food safety, a particularly relevant one for those intent on pursuing a career in the restaurant and hospitality industry 🫑🫕🔪

Mark will be back with us in two weeks time when the lesson will be on menu planning.

Having such a bright, positive space as our Intercultural Café has changed how we do things here at NWMF and we can't wait for you to see it.

For now there's lots of learning to be done 📖 and we are loving it!

Thank you as always to Special EU Programmes Body - SEUPB and Derry City & Strabane District Council for the continued support.
