A fantastic day for 2195 (Long Eaton) Squadron on Saturday 13th June as we took six cadets gliding at 644 VGS ✈️

All six were first-time gliders and did brilliantly, experiencing the thrill of flight and taking on something completely new with real enthusiasm.

The day was made even more special with Plt Off Robinson supporting the cadets while carrying out her secondary duty at 644 VGS. A big thank you also goes to Sgt Harrison for kindly volunteering his time to take the cadets flying.

Thank you to 644 Volunteer Gliding Squadron for such an enjoyable experience!

A brilliant opportunity, great teamwork, and a memorable experience for all involved. πŸ‘

A fantastic evening at the Sector Inter-Squadron Football Tournament! ⚽️

Tonight, cadets from across the sector joined us at 2195 for an evening of fierce competition, great sportsmanship, and brilliant teamwork. Every squad gave it their all on the pitch, with fantastic support from fellow squadrons throughout the tournament.

Thank you to the Civilian Committee who helped organise the night and provide refreshments.

Congratulations to 126 Squadron for coming out victorious this year β€” we’ll be looking to bring the trophy back home next time! πŸ†

Also a special congratulations to our Senior Boys Relay Team who were victorious at Wing Athletics this weekend!

Recently, cadets from our squadron, alongside cadets from 1211 Swadlincote, attended a Bronze Space Course hosted here at 2195 Squadron. Throughout the course, cadets explored a range of fascinating topics including the history of rockets, different types of rocket propulsion, and the many uses of satellites. The course forms part of the wider Space syllabus offered by the Royal Air Force Air Cadets. πŸͺ

We were also delighted to welcome our guest speaker, Daisy Richardson, a Software Engineer at Goonhilly Earth Station. Daisy spoke to cadets about her journey into the space industry, what her role at Goonhilly involves, and the science behind radio communications used in space technology. Her insight gave cadets a fantastic look into careers within the growing space sector.

A huge congratulations to all the cadets for their enthusiasm and hard work throughout the course! πŸš€

Final day on camp!

And what a great day it was! Cadets spent the morning battling it out with an inter-flight competition. A tough battle on the tug of war field before a stretcher-run race. A fantastic display of camaraderie with a bit of inter squadron rivalry too πŸ†

After some final fun the cadets had a final parade to honour the achievements of the camp.
The following awards were given to some very deserving cadets πŸ…

Best Cadet: Cadet Li
Best NCO: Cpl Yates
Best Flight: B Flight

Thank you to all the squadron staff and civ com who helped to run the camp!

A fantastic Saturday on Camp!

The cadets got stuck in first thing with a flight rotation between Laser Clay Pigeon Shooting, Archery, and building a 2-person Basha.

After a hearty lunch the Fieldcraft lessons continued. Cadets learnt how to camouflage themselves and move about tactically. All in preparation for their Night Ex!

In the evening the cadets took to the field for a challenging yet exciting night exercise. Working in teams, they put their newly learned fieldcraft skills to the test, navigating through the dark, staying concealed, and communicating effectively under pressure. Despite the late hour, morale remained high and the cadets showed excellent determination, teamwork, and discipline throughout the exercise. A brilliant end to a busy and rewarding day on camp!
