A big thank you to our wonderful community volunteer who tidied both of the village book swaps today 📚✨

The book swaps at St Michael’s and on the High Street are now looking neat, organised and ready for more donations 😊 There is plenty of space for new books, so please feel free to add any you’d like to share — but kindly no magazines please 🚫🗞️

Thank you to everyone who helps keep this valuable village resource going 💚 Whether you donate books, borrow one to enjoy, or take the time to keep the shelves tidy, your support is greatly appreciated 🙌📖

A huge thank you to everyone who took part in today’s Longstanton Parish Council community litter pick! 🌿🧤

We had an amazing turnout of 27 volunteers, including several children 👨‍👩‍👧‍👦, all helping to keep our village clean and tidy. Together, the team collected an incredible 14 bags of litter 🗑️👏

Among the more unusual finds were a bike wheel 🚲, metal rods, a computer keyboard ⌨️ and even a roll of carpet! These fly-tipped items will be reported to the District Council for removal.

Your time, effort and community spirit 💚 make a real difference, and it was fantastic to see residents of all ages getting involved. Thank you again to everyone who volunteered and helped make today such a success! 🙌✨

⚠️ UPDATE: Repairs have been completed ahead of schedule and the play area is back open for use. It will not need to closed next week ⚠️

To help keep the recreation ground play area safe and enjoyable for everyone, it will be temporarily closed for essential maintenance on Friday 15th May 2026. The play area will reopen for use over the weekend before closing again during the week commencing Monday 18th May while works are completed.

As part of this maintenance, the zipline will be removed. Unfortunately, it has reached the end of its safe working life and is no longer financially viable to repair.

While we appreciate this means the loss of a much-used piece of equipment, we are pleased to share some positive news: funding has been secured by the Parish Council to provide replacement play equipment at the Recreation Ground play area, rather than installing new equipment at the Home Farm Central Open Space. This will allow us to continue investing in and improving this valued community facility.

We appreciate your patience and understanding while these works are carried out.
