Probably the most important job in the group
Handling calls from partner agencies and allocating resources
It can get very tense at times when the weather closes in and requests for support start piling up

Each group has several Group Controllers. They don't necessarily need to have a 4x4 vehicle, or need to be an Operational Responder. These are the first people contacted when we are needed. They take the initial phone call from our Service Users (999 & Essential Services, Councils etc), put their plans in to action and despatch appropriate Responders to appropriate places.

This is one of the few roles that can be done from home, without a 4x4 vehicle... Staying nice and warm with a lovely cup of tea, whilst Responders are out in the cold & wet. During large events and incidents, they may be on site, in control rooms working along side 999 controllers or Event Organisers.

Fundraising support volunteers also don't need access to a 4x4, but do need to be able to get to event sites.
