It is with great sadness that we share the passing of our much-loved colleague and friend, Kari Yarsley. πŸ©·πŸ¦‹
Over a number of years, Kari made a valued contribution to Magna Vitae and became a much-loved member of our wider team.

Swimming played a huge part in Kari’s life. Through both Magna Vitae and Louth Swimming Club, she spent countless hours doing what she loved most: teaching, coaching, encouraging and supporting others.
Those who knew Kari will know how readily she gave her time. Whether supporting swimming lessons, helping with our HAF programme, stepping in when needed or volunteering at galas and competitions, Kari was always willing to help. She brought enthusiasm, experience and kindness to everything she did and was a fantastic role model to so many young people.

Her commitment to Louth Swimming Club in particular was incredibly special. Kari had been part of the club from childhood into adulthood and, over the years, took on many different roles. Her generosity, passion for swimming and willingness to support others have left a lasting impression on swimmers, families, coaches, volunteers and colleagues alike.
Kari’s family have kindly shared details of her funeral, which will take place on Friday 25 September at 1.30pm at Alford Crematorium.
There is no formal dress code. Kari was known for wearing everything from bright colours to black β€” and, of course, the occasional animal print so those attending are encouraged to celebrate her life and remember her however feels right. 🩷
A wake will follow at Generations Church, Cannon Street, Louth, with further details to follow.
Kari’s family have also created a tribute page where friends, colleagues and those whose lives she touched can share memories, photographs and messages:

https://kariyarsley.muchloved.com/

For anyone wishing to make a donation in Kari’s memory, her family have chosen two causes that are particularly meaningful to them.

Louth Swimming Club was such an important part of Kari’s life, and the swimming community supported her throughout both her life and illness.
The family are also supporting a fundraising project to create a garden space for the Intensive Care Unit that cared for Kari during her final week. She was cared for with incredible compassion, dignity and respect, and the family hope that the garden will provide patients, families and staff with a peaceful space away from the clinical environment during some of the most difficult moments of their lives.

Kari will be remembered for her kindness, generosity, passion and the time she so willingly gave to others.
Our thoughts and deepest condolences remain with Kari’s family, friends and everyone who knew and loved her.
Rest in peace, Kari. You were a beautiful soul and will be deeply missed by all of us at Magna Vitae. πŸ©·πŸ¦‹

πŸ‘‰ WaterWise swim school at Meridian- spaces available this September!

With children heading back to school, now is the perfect time to build swimming lessons into their routine.

Here's just some of what makes Magna Vitae's WaterWise swim school is the perfect environment for your child to learn to swim:

➑️ We follow Swim England's Learn to Swim Pathway; this is the backbone of swimming lessons for primary aged children.
🏊 Our fantastic swimming teachers are fully qualified and are always ready to support your children, no matter what stage they are at
πŸ’™ Children progress at their own pace, with support throughout their swimming lesson journey
πŸ₯½ If your child needs further support, we offer private swimming lessons, perfect for those who do better outside of a group setting
πŸ’¦ Best of all, all children on our learn to swim programme can enjoy free access to general swim sessions across our centres.

Ready to discover more about learning to swim with us? Visit our website or give us a call to find out more today.

πŸ”„οΈ Healthy Habits - Resetting after the Holidays

School holidays are a very fun time for families, but they can also be hard work for parents. For this reason, it's so important for parents to take the time to practice a little extra self care at this time to help you to transition back to your family's normal routine.

Here's our top three tips for parents looking to reset after a busy summer.

πŸ§˜πŸ’€. Rest and reset. Parties, play dates and trips out all come at a cost to your energy. Take some time for intentional rest; that could be a snooze in the daytime, a walk in the park or a quiet coffee by yourself. All of these things help to bring you back into balance, whilst taking a little bit of time for yourself.

πŸ“žπŸ‘₯ Connect with others. Taking time to connect with people that you may not have had a chance to see over the holidays is an essential practice for helping you to return to normality. Call a family member, meet up with a friend for a chat or get out for a stroll together; every connection counts.

🧽🫧. Reset your space. Chances are, your space may have got a little messy during the holidays! If the job feels overwhelming, try setting a timer for 15 minutes to get started, or tidy in categories (rubbish, then laundry, then dishes, then putting things away). A clear space is a clear mind.

If the holidays have been stressful, taking time to get back to yourself can make a real difference.

How do you like to reset after the holidays? Let us know in the comments πŸ‘‡

πŸ‘‰ Did you know that swimming is an amazing way to lower stress? Here's why!

🌈 Swimming is a physical workout that triggers your brain to release endorphins and serotonin, which naturally lift your mood and block negative feelings.
😌 Regular aerobic exercise in the water helps reduce cortisol, which is your body's main stress hormone.
πŸ’§ The water supports your weight, taking pressure off your joints and letting tight muscles stretch and relax.
🧘 Rhythmic breathing acts like meditation, slowing your heart rate and calming your nervous system.
πŸ“΅ You cannot use a phone or computer in the pool, giving your brain a forced break from screens and outside noise

Take a dip, feel amazing - join us for a swim this week with us! πŸ™Œ
