🌿 Making a difference in our communities 🌿
We recently organised a volunteer litter pick as an addition to the Impact Event held in July around the Whitton Green area of Lowestoft.

A huge thank you to the fantastic staff from East Suffolk Council who gave up their time to get involved and help make a difference:

👏 Jon, Tracy, Louise, Nicole, Joanne, Matt, Alex, Liz, Rachel and lastly, Darcy the cockerpoo, who didn't pick up much, but supported the morale!

Yesterday, Places for People hosted a Community Street Meet on Aldwyck Way in partnership with East Suffolk Council's Communities Team and Inspire Suffolk.
Inspire Suffolk's Youth Bus was a huge hit with local children and young people, offering a range of activities and gaming opportunities throughout the afternoon.
The event also gave residents the chance to chat with representatives from Places for People and East Suffolk Council, discuss local issues and learn more about community safety, including advice and information around reporting anti-social behaviour.
Thank you to everyone who came along and helped make the event a positive afternoon of community engagement and we look forward to seeing you at future events.

East Suffolk Council Community Safety Partnership and Suffolk Constabulary are inviting residents, businesses, visitors and people who work in the Town Centre and Harbour area of Lowestoft to share their views. Please share with friends and colleagues.

With regard to community safety, we want to understand:

- what matters most to local people

- what works well and what would you like to see more of

- what challenges exist and;

- what priorities should be considered for the future.

Your feedback will help us build a clearer picture of people's experiences and inform future partnership work across the area.

As ASB Awareness Week draws to a close, our final meet & greet event took place yesterday in Beccles.
However, this does not mean that the support available to victims of anti-social behaviour comes to an end. Tackling ASB is a year-round commitment and a statutory responsibility for partner agencies.
While no single agency can solve every issue, there are dedicated and passionate professionals working tirelessly to support victims and improve community safety.
Yesterday, Alex and Jon were joined by PCSO Ben Hedley-Lewis from Suffolk Constabulary and Jacqui Ball from Thirst Youth to discuss local community safety concerns with residents. The event generated some excellent conversations and provided a valuable opportunity for people to share their experiences and raise issues affecting their communities. https://thirstyouthhub.uk/

One of the main concerns raised was the anti-social use of electric scooters and e-bikes. Rachel Tucker, Senior Anti-Social Behaviour Officer, explained how the new Crime and Policing Act 2026 will strengthen enforcement powers. Previously, a Section 59 warning was generally required before a vehicle could be seized. Under the new legislation, that requirement will be removed, enabling police to take swifter action against individuals using e-bikes and e-scooters in an anti-social manner.

While we hope everyone enjoys the match, antisocial behaviour such as excessive noise, disorder, vandalism or intimidation can have a significant impact on residents, families and local businesses.
Please celebrate responsibly:
✅ Be mindful of your neighbours, particularly during late-night matches
✅ Respect public spaces and dispose of litter responsibly
✅ Look out for one another and report any concerns
✅ Enjoy the game safely and respectfully
