⚽ PARK ASSISTANT - Saturday/Sunday Football at Normanston Park

£13.45/hr for over 21 years | £10.85/hr for 18-20 year olds

We are looking for someone to take on the following tasks during the football season at Normanston Park. The work will commence at the start of the football season at the beginning of September and finish in April 2027 (approximately 32 weeks) and be a temporary contract arrangement.

▪️Set up and take down the football pitches being used on the day, including putting goal nets up and down, putting out and collecting corner flags, and carrying out any other small maintenance works needed on the pitches that morning.
▪️Open and close the changing rooms for teams, ensuring they are clean and set up before arrival, then giving them a sweep down afterwards (but not a full clean).
▪️Once the pitches are set up and teams have arrived, carry out general grounds maintenance tasks around the park.

You would normally work from 12:00pm until around 5:00pm, although finish times may vary slightly depending on when the match finishes and all duties have been completed.

It's the final Bank Holiday weekend of the year and the final weekend before schools return, many of you might be enjoying our parks and open spaces.

If you spot an issue in our park, please do report it to us via our on-call system. The system runs every day of the year so, if you do spot an issue, give us a call and leave a message. One of our team will receive the message and resolve any issues.

It's our Sports and Wellness Festival in Sparrows Nest Gardens on Sunday - our FREE event promoting all things health, fitness and wellbeing. ⚽🌳🚴‍♀️

Alongside all the fantastic stalls offering information, activities and classes, we have our own stall - so please do pop along and say hi! 👋

It's a great chance to come along and find out about what the Town Council does, how you could be involved and about all of parks, open spaces and sports facilities. There's even a chance that you could walk away with some FREE Pickleball equipment to get you started. 🎾

After weeks of voting, friendly rivalry and celebrating some of Lowestoft's fantastic parks and open spaces, the results are in...

👑 Sparrows Nest Gardens has been crowned Lowestoft's Top Park 2026!

From its beautiful gardens and stunning coastal setting to its rich history, events and welcoming atmosphere, Sparrows Nest Gardens captured the hearts of residents and emerged victorious in our grand final.

But while there can only be one winner, we'd like to say a huge thank you to everyone who took part in our Top Parks campaign. All of your votes, comments and reactions have helped shine a spotlight on the incredible range of parks, play areas and green spaces we are fortunate to have across Lowestoft.

Whether your favourite was a sporting hub, a nature haven, a hidden gem or a family favourite, one thing became clear throughout the summer:
