Yesterday (19/06/26) at 23:05, we were mobilised to an industrial fire alongside crews from Amesbury and Andover Fire Stations.

On arrival, crews discovered a general waste container well alight. It was suspected that the fire had been caused by a discarded battery within the waste.

Site employees acted quickly to assist by moving the container away from the building, helping to prevent the fire from spreading.
Firefighters then began extinguishing the fire while the contents of the container were emptied to ensure all hotspots were fully dealt with.

This incident serves as an important reminder of the dangers posed by incorrectly disposed batteries. Batteries should never be placed in general waste or recycling bins, as they can become damaged and ignite, causing significant fires and putting people and property at risk.

Today is Firefighters’ Memorial Day, when we take the time to honour those who have lost their lives in the line of duty.

It’s also an opportunity to acknowledge the dedication, commitment and courage of all firefighters who work hard to protect our communities every day.

Those working today will join colleagues across the UK and worldwide in a one minute silence at 12noon.

Turnout:
A crew of 4 was mobilised as part of a 4 pump relief to a thatch roof fire in Potterne.

Tisbury crew met up with Westbury Fire Station Ludgershall Fire Station Wilton Fire Station at Devizes Fire Station where we were briefed and then proceeded to then incident.
