💧 New Ways to Explore Water Quality at Local Bathing Sites

➡️In advance of the new bathing season (15 May - 30 September) anyone thinking of using the River Teme in Ludlow are highly encouraged to explore the official bathing water quality profile for River Teme in Ludlow here: https://environment.data.gov.uk/bwq/profiles/profile.html?_search=Shropshire&site=ukg2200-36060

In addition, the Environment Agency has partnered with Hello Lamp Post, a digital chat tool, to help you learn more about water quality at the designated bathing sites in Ludlow, Shrewsbury and Ironbridge.

Look out for the yellow signs at each site.
Scan the QR code to:
☑️check current information about water quality
☑️share your own observations to support ongoing monitoring

These sites were officially designated as bathing waters in 2024, and now have installed water quality sensors in Ludlow and Shrewsbury.
You can view this data through the Shropshire Wild Swimming app, developed by the River Severn Partnership.

River water quality can be affected by farm run‑off, wastewater treatment works and road drainage. Your input helps build a clearer picture of how these sites are used throughout the year, supporting future investigations and planning by the Environmental Agency.

Improving river water quality to bathing water standards is a long‑term challenge, but with commitment and teamwork from local businesses and our communities, we can make real progress together.
