A page to promote the attendance at the annual Rememberance Parade to all Lutonians Past and Present but especially Currently serving or Ex-Servicemen who live or have lived in the Luton Area. With proud thanksgiving, a mother for her children,

Sings sorrow up into immortal spheres,

And a glory that shines upon our tears. They went with songs to the battle, they were young,
Straight of limb, true of eye, steady and aglow. They were staunch to the end against odds uncounted;

We will remember them. They mingle not with their laughing comrades again;

Help save the HMS Wellington, the last surviving Royal Navy vessel from the Battle of the Atlantic – the longest continuous military campaign of the Second World War – requires essential repairs or risks being scrapped.

To avoid the 1,200-ton ship potentially being broken up, the Wellington Trust has launched a fundraising campaign to save the well-known landmark on the River Thames.

HMS Wellington was built in 1934 and served as a convoy es**rt ship during the Second World War, guarding more than 100 convoys of merchant ships.

As guardians of Remembrance we are committed to honouring the service and sacrifice of our Armed Forces personnel, past, present and future.  We look forward to the day when we can join together again in future Remembrance events and hope this will be possible in the not-too-distant future.

For our today they gave their tomorrow

In Luton like many other towns up and down the country, we are being asked to ensure our safety and allow us to still show our respect and observance for this most reverent of days.

Although there will be a short service held at the Luton War Memorial by a small group of Veteran wreath layers and a much reduced civic group.

The public are being asked to not attend, but if they do, they should practice social distancing with masks to be worn throughout, however to allow those that want to be a part of the service from home and the council will stream a short service of Remembrance at 11am on Sunday 8 November to honour our service personnel, past and present.

In line with government advice, a joint decision has been taken to honour armed service personnel in a manner that ensures the utmost safety for members of the public, serving members of the forces and veterans – many of whom are considered to be in especially vulnerable categories.
