We’re committed to cracking down on antisocial behaviour and environmental crime, and making Luton safer.

That’s why we’re investing in our Neighbourhood Enforcement Team (NET), giving officers a bigger presence across the town and more capacity for enforcement action.

The team has already grown from eight to 12 enforcement officers, supported by two team leaders, and we’re recruiting more staff as part of plans to further strengthen the service.

With the expansion, NET has also extended its operating hours to provide greater coverage during the evenings and at weekends:
• Monday to Friday: 7am to 10pm
• Saturday: 8am to 8pm

NET officers tackle a wide range of issues that negatively affect our neighbourhoods, including fly-tipping, untidy gardens and abandoned vehicles.

The team also provides a dedicated presence in Luton Town Centre, tackling antisocial behaviour and enforcing the Public Spaces Protection Order (PSPO).

More officers. Longer hours. Increased visibility. All helping to make you feel safer.

As a Labour group we utterly condemn the remarks made by Tory MP Blake Stephenson, which are not only untrue but parrot far right talking points.

We’re glad to see the leader of the council has condemned these remarks too but how can he claim his coalition is in agreement when the leader of the Tory Group has sought to defend these comments, posting that Stephenson was encouraging ‘integration’ and ‘investment’?

Will Cllr Amjid Ali call out his Tory coalition partner? Are the independent alliance happy to work with the Tory Party despite such awful remarks?

It is utterly shameful for a senior Conservative MP to lie about Luton in this way. Not only is it untrue about Luton having no go zones, Blake Stephenson should be utterly ashamed of parroting far-right narratives, the same far-right narratives which embolden the likes of Tommy Robinson.

Our town’s strength will always be in our diversity and communities coming together to support one another. We wonder if the local Conservatives will condemn his disgraceful remarks?

Great to be out talking to South ward residents alongside Rachel Hopkins MP and our Labour team.

Our Labour government is giving families breathing space on the cost of living, with the VAT cut on energy bills and bus fares capped at £2, as well as taking greater public control of water, energy and housing.
