🚒 A Busy Day for Lyme Regis Fire Station – 9th July 🚒
The 9th July proved to be a busy day for crews from Lyme Regis Fire Station, who attended two very different incidents.
🐱 Cat Rescue in Charmouth
Our first call of the day was to a cat rescue in Charmouth after a feline had become stranded on the roof of a house. Despite repeated calls from its owner, the cat refused to come down and, with the warm weather, was beginning to pant and show signs of distress.
Using ladders and safe working at height equipment, firefighters were able to gain access to the roof and safely retrieve the cat. Following its rescue, the cat was reunited with its owner, given some much-needed water, and is thankfully doing well.
🔥 Fire in the Open – Monmouth Beach
Later in the day, crews were mobilised to reports of a fire in the open on Monmouth Beach. Firefighters quickly dealt with the incident and ensured the area was left safe.
As a reminder, Monmouth Beach forms part of a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI), and fires are not permitted on the beach. Open fires can cause damage to the unique environment, pose a risk to wildlife, and have the potential to spread, particularly during periods of warm and dry weather.
