Southampton International Boat Show is back is back bigger than ever for 2026 💙
Every September, the South Coast comes alive with one of the UK’s most anticipated marine events. Returning from 18–27 September 2026, the ten-day festival brings together thousands of boating enthusiasts, watersports lovers and families to celebrate everything the marine world has to offer. With more than 700 marine brands, hundreds of boats on display and plenty of opportunities to get out on the water, it’s an unmissable event for anyone with a passion for life on the sea.
While Southampton is the home of the show, many visitors choose to stay in Lymington – enjoying the charm of one of the Solent’s most beautiful harbour towns before or after their visit.

Only a short train journey from Lymington Harbour to Southampton Central is the perfect place to base yourself if visiting the show 👍⚓️

Sunday mornings at Lymington Harbour ☀️⚓️

The sun is making an appearance and the harbour is looking rather lovely this morning. Calm waters, blue skies and boats gently bobbing in the marina — just how Sundays should be 💙 Happy Sunday

Lymington RNLI crew member, Gunnar Christensen, is now in Les Sables D'Olonne with his Hans Christian 34 'Pompoen' where, on Sunday 6th September, he and 15 other skippers will start the 2026 Golden Globe Race which will see them racing around the world, solo, non-stop.

The route will take them across the Atlantic to round the Ile de Trinidade off the coast of Brazil, then south eastwards round the Cape of Good Hope, past Tasmania in the Southern Ocean then round Cape Horn before the long voyage back to Les Sables D'Olonne. The race will take at least 7 months but just getting to the start line has taken over 2 years of hard work preparing Pompoen for the gruelling race.

The race follows the same format as when it was originally run in 1968 when it was won by Sir Robin Knox-Johnston, so no GPS or sat phone, Gunnar will have to rely on old school navigation using a sextant, chart and compass and can have no external assistance. You can follow Gunnar's progress on the YB Tracking App at https://www.ybtracking.com/ .

Everybody at Lymington RNLI wishes Gunnar all the best for the race and look forward to him being back on pager some time in May 2027! RNLI

Weekend loading… 🌊☀️

The temperatures may have dropped a little, but the sun is shining and Lymington is looking rather lovely.

It’s perfect weather to head outside and make the most of a late-summer weekend with a walk along the coast, fresh sea air and those beautiful harbour views.

Who needs the Mediterranean anyway? 😉⚓️
