World Ocean Day 🌊

As part of our World Ocean Day activities we have been teaching the children about the importance of looking after our oceans and caring for our local community.

Today the children took part in a litter pick along the seafront, helping to remove rubbish that could harm marine life and pollute our environment. They showed great responsibility, teamwork, and enthusiasm as they worked together to make a positive difference.

By encouraging children to care for the world around them, we are helping them understand that even small actions can have a big impact on protecting our oceans for future generations. ♻️🐚

With the lovely warm weather we've been enjoying ☀️Lots of children shared stories about enjoying ice creams with their families, discussing their favourite flavours, sprinkles, flakes, and wafers!

To build on their interests, we created a role play Ice Cream Parlour, which the children have absolutely loved. They have been using their imaginations to serve customers, take orders, scoop ice cream, and create delicious pretend treats.

The children have enjoyed developing their communication skills through conversations about different scoops of ice cream, favourite flavours, toppings, and making choices using menu's and price lists. 🍦☀️

May’s Book of the Month — Elmer! 🐘

Our children have loved exploring the colourful world of Elmer the Elephant! 🌈

We’ve had lots of fun:
🟦 Using colourful blocks for counting, sorting, colours, and patterns
♻️ Creating our own Elmer elephants using recycled milk bottles
✂️ Gluing and sticking elephant trunks to support creativity and fine motor skills
📖 Enjoying story time and imaginative play together

Through these activities, the children have been developing communication, early maths skills, creativity, teamwork, and confidence through hands-on learning.

It is also Elmer Day on 28th May, a special day all about kindness, friendship, and celebrating what makes us unique!

Cooking Club 👨‍🍳

This morning the children had lots of fun making biscuits in Cooking Club! They talked about the ingredients and identified the equipment they needed for mixing, cutting, measuring, and pouring. The children used the scales to weigh ingredients and enjoyed mixing everything together. 🥣

The Dolphins listened carefully to instructions, took turns with their friends, and even had a go at cracking eggs! The children also showed lots of understanding about why it is important to wash our hands before cooking and during food preparation to help keep everything clean and safe. 👏

Our youngest children enjoyed a lovely sensory play session outdoors on the village green ☀️

Using colourful sensory scarves, the children explored movement, colour, and texture while enjoying the fresh air with their friends.

Stepping Stones 🟠🔵🟢🟡

Today the children enjoyed taking part in a fun balancing and jumping activity at the grass park!
Using the stepping stones, the children practised carefully balancing, stretching, stepping and jumping from one colour to the next.

These types of activities help to support gross physical development by building strength, coordination, balance and body control.

It was lovely to see the children encouraging one another, taking turns and challenging themselves whilst having lots of fun in the sunshine! ☀️

We absolutely love our visits to the library on Tuesday afternoons and Friday mornings 📚✨

The children especially enjoy listening to Jan read different stories. It’s become such a special part of our week and we look forward to it every time! 💛

Seaside Counting! 🌊

The children had a wonderful time down at the beach front this morning! From carefully collecting pebbles to filling their buckets with treasures, the children were fully engaged in hands on discovery and teamwork.

We also incorporated early maths skills by counting and sorting the stones—how many can we find? Can we make groups of 5? The children loved turning their discoveries into a fun counting game!

These moments help develop curiosity, fine motor skills, early numeracy, and social interaction—all while having lots of fun in the fresh air!

The babies have loved their beach outings this week 🌊☀️

Our Seahorse Room children have been busy exploring the beach park, with the swings definitely taking centre stage as a firm favourite! There’s been joy and smiles all around.

It’s been really special to watch those early friendships beginning to form, with lots of laughter, shared experiences, and lovely interactions.

Seeing them explore, play, and build confidence is such an important part of their early development 💛
