Thank you again from Carole and from me to those who supported us in the election, and to those of you whom we managed to speak to during the campaign, thanks for your time and for some interesting conversations.

After the election, we have been able to take a few days away in the Scottish Highlands, here at the summit of Beinn Chabhair, our 70th and 109th Munro respectively. (Munros are the Scottish mountain summits above 3000ft.)

THANK YOU

I would just like to take the time to thank everyone for your support in the lead up to Thursday’s election and unfortunately, I wasn’t successful but I would wish all of the successful candidates all the best in their new roles.

I would also like to thank everyone for their kindness throughout the campaign and will continue to work hard for Lymm South whenever the opportunity arises.

🗳️ TOMORROW IS POLLING DAY, VOTE FOR SOMEONE WITH THE EXPERIENCE TO HOLD WARRINGTON BOROUGH COUNCIL TO ACCOUNT 🗳️

Ian Pemberton - Conservative Party Candidate for Lymm South

My home is here in Lymm where my family and I have lived for over 40 years. I am happily married to Carole, and we have two children who went to local schools and so far we have three grandchildren. Over those 40 years I have served as a parent governor at Ravenbank Primary and held the position of treasurer for Lymm High School's PTA.

Professionally, I have been lucky to have a rewarding career in IT, working with Accenture, Barclays, and other notable financial institutions, which I feel gives me a huge amount of expertise to be the ideal candidate to hold Warrington Borough Council to account for its financial mismanagement.

I hold a degree in Physics from Oxford University and beyond my work and family life, l am passionate about local politics and enjoy mountaineering, cycling and skiing in my leisure time.

Why I am standing?

Warrington BC is led by the Labour majority. It has followed a risky investment strategy funded by borrowing of £1.8bn (yes billion). The investments have suffered some serious losses, and there is a real risk of bankruptcy. Over the last 3 years it has been only the Conservative group on the council that has provided opposition to this. If elected I want to strengthen the Con voice calling for major changes to this policy.

The Local Plan passed by Labour has too much building on Green Belt land across south Warrington inc. Lymm. We should give more weight to protecting our open space, and ensure adequate infrastructure provision. Again, I want to join the Con group calling for changes.

In Lymm more pressure on the council for higher priority on long running problems, 3.5 yr since the collapse of the wall by the dam with no change, and more than 20 yr without adoption by WBC of roads and lighting on the Cherryfields development.

So using your postal vote or in person TOMORROW, Thursday May 2nd, vote 🗳️ for a local candidate who has the knowledge and expertise to give Lymm South residents a strong voice!

The Labour leadership of Warrington Borough Council has been telling us for some time that its financial situation should not be a source of concern. That, despite the council having loans amounting to £1.8 billion, which equate to a debt of about £20,000 for each household in the borough, one of the highest in the country.

They claim to make a £20 million annual profit on the investments made with the loans, but without providing a breakdown to allow that to be checked. There have been large losses in the value of some investments, but they say that is nothing to worry about.

The Financial Times recently published an article which was very damming of the investment strategy. And for several years in a row, the external auditors have not been able to sign off the accounts.

I hope to join and strengthen the Conservative voice on the borough council calling for more openness, and for change to the investment strategies, and I hope you will give me your vote 🗳️ in the elections on 2 May.

🗳️ SUPER SATURDAY CAMPAIGN 🗳️

Thank you for all of the fantastic volunteers who gave up their Saturday morning to help me speak to and hear the views of residents across the Lymm South Ward and thank you to everyone for the warm welcome my helpers and I received.

There are only two airworthy Lancaster bombers left in the world. One of these iconic planes is in Canada. The other will be flying over Lymm on the 23rd June as part of the Historic Transport Day.

Two months to go, and it's suddenly got very exciting!
