'These people only pop up at election time!'

We hear this quite often on social media, about people that every week are sat in council meetings, dealing with case work, feature in the 'Focus' that regular comes through your door, appears in the Warrington Guardian on a regular basis and can be found stood by the cross at street stalls.

The only issue is that many people either aren't on Social Media at all, or only occasionally - or post one time something vaguely political and get shouted at.

Cllr Ian Marks is a case in point. He's been a councillor for 45 years, pretty much every day he's in a council meeting, and is the editor behind the 'Focus' - he's a machine! But you'll never see Ian on Social media - he just doesn't do it.

So here you are - it's election time, and Ian would love your vote in Lymm North, but remember he's like a puppy - he's not just here for Christm.... I mean elections.

Please come along to the bus consultation - it’s not just about Statham.

18/02/2023

I’ve a bit of an update on the Lymm bus issues. Myself and Cllr Ian Marks have been working with the council and bus company on how to improve the bus service around Lymm.

There are 3 main ideas. The first is to boost what was the Lymm Shopper bus, so it runs much more regularly Monday - Saturday, and potentially extend the route to take in more of Lymm.

The second idea is to change this service to an on-demand service. With a service like this the bus does a basic route, but if you request the bus, it diverts to include an occasional stop - not your doorstep, but close by. It may then drop you off on the standard route, or again at an occasional stop. This is a new type of service that has worked really well in other parts of the UK.

The final proposal is to adapt a bus from Warrington to go via Statham, along Whitbarrow Road and into the village.

There’s pros and cons of all the service options, but the key point is funding has been secured to deliver one of the options.

We are hoping to arrange a public consultation in early March to get your views on what option is best, see if there’s any tweaks that could be made to the ideas, then to put in place a suitable service.

What’s your thoughts? Remember we’re in a Austerity situation where public funding is limited, and the only way to keep a bus service is to actually use it.

The decision to stop buses through Statham is really unpopular and creates major problems particularly for the elderly and disabled. We have launched a petition which can be signed in Morrisons on Albany Road.

Statham residents are angry about changes to bus services that came into effect on 3rd October. Buses no longer travel along Star Lane or Barsbank Lane and passengers must now use the bus stops on the A56. I welcome some of the other changes being made which will benefit Lymm residents such as the r...
