The Squadron is proud to announce that FS Olford has successfully completed the SNCO Staff Drill Instructor Course (SSDIC) and is now a qualified Drill Instructor.

FS Olford is one of the four new Drill Instructors from Greater Manchester Wing qualifying from this year’s course hosted by North Region at RAF Woodvale.

This reflects her hard work, dedication and commitment to developing both herself and our cadets. We look forward to seeing the positive impact her new qualification will have on the Squadron.

Congratulations, FS Olford.

Last parade night, we were pleased to recognise the achievements of several of our cadets.

FS Ridley-Siddall received their Silver Duke of Edinburgh’s Award, while Cdt Nicolaou was presented with their Bronze Duke of Edinburgh’s Award. Both awards reflect the dedication required to complete the volunteering, physical, skills and expedition sections in their own time.

Cpl Ridley-Siddall also received their Youth First Aid qualification, achieved during a recent Sector Training Weekend.

Congratulations to all three cadets!

Lord Lieutenant's Awards!

We're pleased to share that Sqn Ldr Clegg was awarded the Lord Lieutenant's Certificate for Meritorious Service at a ceremony last week hosted by RFCA for the North West of England & the Isle of Man at Chester Cathedral.

Presented by the Lord Lieutenant for Cheshire, Lady Redmond MBE - The Lord-Lieutenant’s Certificate of Meritorious Service is an award that recognises reservists, cadet force adult volunteers, and others who have given exceptional service, leadership, and commitment beyond what would normally be expected in their role. It is awarded for outstanding contributions and sustained impact, and are recognised as laudatory honours throughout the Ministry of Defence.

Sqn Ldr Clegg was cited for his commitment to delivery of safe, high-quality experiences for young people along side his contributions to cadet and staff development.

Congratulations! 👏

CAPTAIN DAVE NUNNERLEY

Earlier this week on squadron we were fortunate to welcome Captain Dave Nunnerley as a guest speaker.

He spoke to our cadets about his experiences serving in the Parachute Regiment, sharing insight into both the challenges and opportunities that come with life in the military.

Captain Nunnerley also discussed how the Armed Forces are continuing to modernise, particularly highlighting the increasing role of technology and drones in today’s military operations.

To make the session even more engaging, he gave some of our cadets the opportunity to have a go at flying a drone themselves, giving them a hands-on insight into this rapidly developing area.

A fascinating and inspiring visit that sparked plenty of interest and discussion across the squadron.

Over the last 2 weekends, Staff from Greater Manchester Wing have been studying hard under the direction of North Region SATT and have successfully qualified as Skill at Arms Instructors (SAAI).

Badges

We are only two parade nights into the year and it’s already been fantastic to see the level of commitment and effort from our cadets reflected in their achievements.

So far this year, we have proudly awarded 2 Blue Communications badges, 4 Bronze First Aid badges, 1 Silver Cyber badge, 1 Bronze Leadership badge, 1 Bronze Duke of Edinburgh’s Award, and 1 Leading Cadet classification.

These early successes are a real credit to the hard work put in by our cadets, as well as the dedication of our staff team in supporting their training and development. It’s an excellent start to the year and sets a strong foundation for what’s to come. We’re really looking forward to seeing how many more qualifications, badges, and milestones can be achieved as the year progresses.
