The Service is holding an Open Day at its Headquarters in Clyst St George on Sunday 6 September, from 10am to 4pm. The event is free, open to everyone and promises a day of family-friendly fun, live demonstrations, and an inside look at the life and work of the fire and rescue service.

Visitors can enjoy emergency service demonstrations, food and refreshments, live entertainment, and guided tours of fire appliances. The day is also a valuable opportunity to learn more about fire safety and prevention. Attendees will be able to speak with firefighters and prevention officers, discovering practical ways to stay safe at home, on the road, and in the great outdoors.

Red heat-health alert🌡️
A message from Devon County Council
A red heat-health alert has been issued for the South West by the UK Health Security Agency from 1am on Wednesday 24 June to 11pm on Thursday 25 June. Alongside this, the Met Office has issued an amber extreme heat warning from today until Thursday 25 June.
These alerts indicate a heightened risk to health, with impacts expected across communities, particularly for those who are more vulnerable.
High temperatures can increase the risk of dehydration, heat exhaustion and more serious health issues. While anyone can be affected, some people are more vulnerable – particularly older residents, young children and those with underlying health conditions.
Simple actions can make a big difference:
• Stay hydrated and avoid the hottest part of the day (11am–3pm)
• Keep homes cool by closing curtains during the day and opening windows when it’s cooler
• Limit strenuous activity during peak heat
Just as importantly, we’re encouraging a strong community response. Checking in on neighbours, friends and family – especially those who may be more vulnerable or isolated – is one of the most effective ways to reduce harm during hot weather. Helping people to stay connected and supported can make a real difference.
A helpful source of advice you can share with residents is the UK Health Security Agency’s guidance: Beat the heat – staying safe in hot weather.
If you’re sharing messages locally or on social media, please encourage residents to look out for one another and seek help if they need it.

Revised timeline for the draft Neighbourhood Plan - following the feedback from EDDC and our survey results we are revising some of the objectives and policies. This will take longer than our originally planned time of 12 June. Please be patient, we will keep you updated and present the new draft as soon as it is ready.

Thank you for your recent comments on the draft Neighbourhood Plan. The Working Group has met with Angela King (the EDDC Neighbourhood Planning Officer) and Claire Rodway (who was involved in the First Lympstone Neighbourhood Plan) to discuss how we go forward. They offered some very useful insights. Also, the results from the independent Consultation Survey will be concluded and presented by DCT (Devon Communities Together) by the end of this week. The Working Group will then spend the next few weeks reviewing and amending the Plan which will then go to the Parish Council. Once they have reviewed it and made any comments, the Plan will be available for another public Consultation. We will keep the Community updated on the Village website.
