Access to Banking Services Review: Call for Evidence

The Access to Banking Review wants to gather the best possible up-to-date evidence of the challenges faced by those who need in-person banking services. This evidence will help to establish the impact of changing services, identify who is most affected, and underpin its assessment of what further action may be required.

Those communities which face or have experienced the loss of over-the-counter banking services may wish to share their experiences as part of this review.

The Access to Banking Services Review Call for Evidence will close for input on 20 July.

You can provide input through the online response.

If it is not possible to submit your input through the online response form, you can email a response to: [email protected]

Alternatively, responses can be submitted to: Access to Banking Services Review, Financial Services Group, 1st Floor, HM Treasury, 1 Horse Guards Road, SW1A 2HQ

Applications are open for organisations and community groups to benefit from funding

New Forest District Council has opened applications for local projects to benefit from funding.

The funding is available through the Community Infrastructure Levy (CIL) local infrastructure fund.

Community groups, registered charities, schools and statutory infrastructure providers are amongst the number of groups that can apply for up to £100,000 towards their infrastructure project for allocation from 2027 to 2028 through the CIL.

CIL can be used to fund a wide range of infrastructure projects.

In December 2025, projects were chosen to benefit from the CIL local infrastructure fund and these included a BMX Pump Track at New Milton, new public toilets at Gang Warily, and an all-weather canopy for a swimming pool at Fordingbridge Infants and Junior School Federation.

The projects funded also included a number of ‘Green Way’ projects, that have included new natural green spaces, new boardwalks, and improvements to local walking routes.

Applications opened on 1 June 2026 and can be submitted until 7 August 2026 at https://newforest.govocal.com/en-GB/projects/community-infrastructure-levy-2026

Therefore, we are asking for your votes on which style you would like. We can only have one style printed due to the costs.

Please respond family or box below.

The closing date for votes will be the 30 June 2026.

Lyndhurst Cemetery car park.

The car park is licensed by Forestry England to Lyndhurst Parish Council. Last autumn, when Forestry England announced plans to introduce charges for its 129 car parks in the New Forest this did not include any car parks such as this one where a license or lease in place with another organisation. At that time Lyndhurst Parish Council raised concerns that having this car park free of charge would lead to the general public using the cemetery car park for their recreational visits to avoid payment in other car parks. It was felt that there was considerable risk that those visiting the cemetery would not be able to find a place to park. To mitigate the above risk it was agreed by both organisations that charges should also apply to this car park, with the exception of when funerals and other religious events are taking place.

Following subsequent concerns raised by plot holders at the cemetery, the parish council reviewed this matter and have worked closely with Forestry England to put in place appropriate exemptions from charges. This approach supports those visiting the cemetery and addresses the original risks regarding parking spaces being available for this purpose. Plot holders and their relatives can apply for exemptions from charges for this car park can apply via parish council’s websitehttps://www.lyndhurst-pc.gov.uk/wp-content/uploads/sites/83/2026/06/Parking-pass-application.pdf
