Meet Pip 🦭

This young common seal was found on St Annes Beach yesterday after apparently becoming a little lost.

Fylde Ranger Service and trained volunteers from British Divers Marine Life Rescue kept Pip safe and undisturbed before taking the pup to a nearby vet for assessment.

A lovely little visitor - and thankfully in safe hands. ❤️

If you spot a seal on the beach, please stay at least 10 metres away, keep dogs on leads and contact the Coastguard or BDMLR.

A storm rolling into St Annes this morning 🌧️

Dark skies, wet promenade, the sea miles out… and of course someone still walking the dog.

A proper British seaside bank holiday morning. 🌊☔

Is Lytham St Annes actually a town?

Not quite.

Lytham and St Annes are two separate towns.

They were brought together administratively in 1922 as the Borough of Lytham St Annes, and over time the built-up area between them grew together.

But the two places still have their own names, centres and identities today.

So “Lytham St Annes” is very real - it just doesn’t mean Lytham and St Annes became one town.

What do you call the whole place?

Not exactly the August weather we ordered… ☁️

But apparently nobody told St Annes it wasn’t a beach day. ❤️

Well… at least we’ve definitely got wind! 🪁😂

The first Kite Festival forecast is in.

A few showers showing, but plenty of brighter spells, 17-19°C and - most importantly - a decent breeze all weekend. 🪁

Who’s coming to St Annes next weekend? ❤️

The Lytham St Anne's Shanty Crew are holding their final open-air Monday night of the summer this Bank Holiday Monday at St Annes RNLI.

⏰ Please note the new start time - 7.15pm

Bring a chair, probably a coat 😄, and enjoy one last summer evening of shanties by the sea - all helping to raise money for the RNLI.

One of those St Annes days you just don’t want to end ☀️

Blue skies, a busy prom, children on the beach and the huts full of people making the most of summer.

Who knows how many more days like this we’ve got left ❤️

ST ANNES-ON-THE-SEA

St Annes is perhaps my favourite town on the Fylde Coast because it is charming and elegant yet refreshingly unpretentious and down to earth.

St Annes' seafront boasts beautiful sandy beach with ecologically important sand dunes as well as the pretty promenade gardens and the St Annes Beach Huts overlooking the beach.

Just a short walk away is the town centre which has a growing number of great bars, restaurants and cafes, especially on Wood Street and there's also lots of vintage and antique shops scattered across town.

Just off the town centre, you have got the lovely Ashton Gardens which has retained its Edwardian beauty with a pavilion, rose garden, ornamental lake, flower beds and woodland.
