🌾 𝗦𝗨𝗣𝗣𝗢𝗥𝗧𝗜𝗡𝗚 𝗟𝗔𝗡𝗖𝗔𝗦𝗛𝗜𝗥𝗘 𝗙𝗔𝗥𝗠𝗜𝗡𝗚

Yesterday I joined Cllr Stephen Atkinson and Cllr Ella Worthington at Cllr James Tomlinson's farm to hear directly from farmers.

We discussed concerns around 𝗶𝗻𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗶𝘁𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝘁𝗮𝘅, the future of family farms and the importance of 𝗯𝘂𝘆𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗹𝗼𝗰𝗮𝗹 and supporting Lancashire-produced food.

A 𝗡𝗼𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗠𝗼𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 on Farming & Rural Prosperity will be considered at Lancashire County Council’s Full Council on 𝟭𝟱 𝗢𝗰𝘁𝗼𝗯𝗲𝗿, including proposals for a Farming & Rural Prosperity Forum and exploring opportunities to increase the use of Lancashire-produced food within council-supported services.

𝐄𝐍𝐎𝐔𝐆𝐇 𝐈𝐒 𝐄𝐍𝐎𝐔𝐆𝐇.

Fylde is set to add at least 6,656 new homes by 2042.

That means more fields, farmland and green spaces being built on across our towns and villages.

𝗧𝗵𝗼𝘂𝘀𝗮𝗻𝗱𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝗻𝗲𝘄 𝗵𝗼𝗺𝗲𝘀.

𝗠𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗳𝗳𝗶𝗰.

𝗠𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝗽𝗿𝗲𝘀𝘀𝘂𝗿𝗲 𝗼𝗻 𝗿𝗼𝗮𝗱𝘀, 𝘀𝗰𝗵𝗼𝗼𝗹𝘀, 𝗚𝗣𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗽𝘂𝗯𝗹𝗶𝗰 𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗻𝘀𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁.

And once those fields are covered in houses, they're gone forever.

We shouldn't be sleepwalking into a situation where our towns and villages simply merge into one continuous urban sprawl.

Development needs to come with the infrastructure to support it, not houses first and promises later.

Fylde Council's Local Plan is now out for consultation.

🌳 𝐋𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐚𝐬𝐡𝐢𝐫𝐞 𝐍𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐅𝐨𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐭: 𝐎𝐮𝐫 𝐀𝐩𝐩𝐥𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐇𝐚𝐬 𝐁𝐞𝐞𝐧 𝐒𝐮𝐛𝐦𝐢𝐭𝐭𝐞𝐝!

The application was submitted last night, backed by more than 50 letters of support, including support from Lancashire MPs Cat Smith and Andy MacNae.

But this isn’t just about politicians. Thousands of residents and businesses across Lancashire have also shown their support for the bid.

It’s fantastic to see support building for what could be a huge opportunity for Lancashire, creating more woodland, protecting our green spaces, supporting wildlife and leaving a lasting legacy for future generations.

It’s disappointing that more MPs haven’t come forward, but the application is now in and the next stage begins.

That’s the headline they’re pushing, but it’s not the same thing.

The five men arrested near RAF Fairford are British nationals. Legal status. Passport. Nothing more.

𝗜𝘁 𝗱𝗼𝗲𝘀𝗻’𝘁 𝘁𝗲𝗹𝗹 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗶𝗿 𝗯𝗮𝗰𝗸𝗴𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗱. 𝗗𝗼𝗲𝘀𝗻’𝘁 𝘁𝗲𝗹𝗹 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗶𝗿 𝗳𝗮𝗺𝗶𝗹𝘆. 𝗗𝗼𝗲𝘀𝗻’𝘁 𝘁𝗲𝗹𝗹 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗶𝗿 𝗰𝘂𝗹𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲 𝗼𝗿 𝘄𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗶𝗿 𝗿𝗼𝗼𝘁𝘀 𝗮𝗿𝗲. 𝗔𝗻𝗱 𝗶𝘁 𝗱𝗲𝗳𝗶𝗻𝗶𝘁𝗲𝗹𝘆 𝗱𝗼𝗲𝘀𝗻’𝘁 𝘁𝗲𝗹𝗹 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝘄𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝘆’𝗿𝗲 𝗹𝗼𝘆𝗮𝗹 𝘁𝗼.

Yet half the media just says “British” like it settles it.

It doesn’t.

Nationality is one thing. Being British is another. One is a document. The other is who you actually are.

When it’s something this serious, stop blurring the two.

The Government says the numbers are falling.

But is the real measure of success simply having fewer crossings or ultimately stopping the crossings altogether?

Good progress on the A585 and A583 Kirkham Bypass this week.

🌳 Hedge and grass cutting started on Wednesday, and the crews have already cleared a good stretch.

That’s every public swimming pool on this side of the Fylde, and residents still haven’t been given a clear reopening date.

Families, swimming clubs, school lessons and older residents are all left waiting.

Yet £𝟏.𝟔 𝐦𝐢𝐥𝐥𝐢𝐨𝐧 was found for resurfacing outside the Conservative-run council’s own offices.

Residents deserve to know:

𝐖𝐡𝐞𝐧 𝐰𝐢𝐥𝐥 𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐩𝐨𝐨𝐥𝐬 𝐫𝐞𝐨𝐩𝐞𝐧?

𝗧𝗵𝗲𝘆 𝗮𝗹𝗹 𝘁𝗿𝗶𝗲𝗱 𝘁𝗼 𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗽 𝘂𝘀. 𝗧𝗵𝗲𝘆 𝗳𝗮𝗶𝗹𝗲𝗱.

When Reform took control of Lancashire County Council, we made clear our view: Lancashire should no longer be responsible for administering the Government’s refugee resettlement schemes.

What happened next?

Councillors from 𝗢𝘂𝗿 𝗪𝗲𝘀𝘁 𝗟𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗮𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗿𝗲, 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝘀𝗲𝗿𝘃𝗮𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲𝘀, 𝗟𝗮𝗯𝗼𝘂𝗿, 𝗟𝗶𝗯𝗲𝗿𝗮𝗹 𝗗𝗲𝗺𝗼𝗰𝗿𝗮𝘁𝘀 and the 𝗚𝗿𝗲𝗲𝗻𝘀 all backed a cross-party attempt to challenge the decision.

Think about that.

Parties that spend their time fighting each other suddenly found common ground when it came to challenging a Reform decision.

They tried to stop it through a formal call-in, questioning the decision, the process and the financial implications.

And they failed.

The scrutiny committee voted 6–4 that the Reform administration had followed the council’s decision-making principles. The decision stands.

This is exactly why people voted Reform.

While the old parties defend the status quo, Reform is delivering change.

𝗥𝗲𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗺 𝘀𝗮𝗶𝗱 𝗻𝗼.

No more Lancashire County Council acting as the administrator and coordinator for these Government refugee schemes.

The message is simple:

Lancashire County Council should concentrate on Lancashire.

𝗥𝗲𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗺 𝗶𝘀 𝗱𝗲𝗹𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗰𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗲 𝗽𝗲𝗼𝗽𝗹𝗲 𝘃𝗼𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝗳𝗼𝗿.

🌳 Lancashire is bidding for a National Forest.

Lancashire County Council has submitted a bid to create a National Forest for our county, an ambitious project that could bring major environmental, economic and community benefits.

This is about creating something that future generations of Lancashire can be proud of.

We’re also asking every Lancashire MP, regardless of party, to publicly back the bid. The stronger the support across the county, the better.

Lancashire deserves a National Forest. Let’s get behind the bid and make it happen.

Hedge and grass cutting on the A585 and A583 Kirkham Bypass starts on Wednesday 16 September.

Nesting season is over, so we can now cut back the hedges and verges. Some road signs along this stretch are hard to see, and that needs sorting before the darker winter months.

Where: The A585 from the Kingfisher roundabout in Wesham, down to the Blackpool Road roundabout, then along the A583 Kirkham Bypass to the Freckleton Street lights.

When: From Wednesday 16 September, for around two weeks.

Traffic: A highway permit is in place to manage traffic. There may be some short delays, so please allow a bit of extra time.

Thanks for bearing with us. Once it's done, drivers will be able to see the signs clearly again.
