Storm Eowyn

A Met Office RED warning for very strong winds is in place from 7am to 2pm tomorrow, Friday 24 January, with a further AMBER warning of wind with high impacts from 6am – 9pm, and a YELLOW warning from midnight tonight until midnight tomorrow (Friday 24 January)

The PSNI are advising against all travel tomorrow, due to very dangerous driving conditions with fallen trees on roads. If you have plans for Friday that involve travel, think about changing those plans to another day.

Keep yourself and others safe; avoid travelling by road during potentially dangerous conditions. It is not safe to drive in these conditions.

Don't risk injury to others or damage to your property. If you can do so safely, check for loose items outside your home and secure them. Items include; bins, garden furniture, trampolines, tents, sheds, and fences.

Being outside in high winds makes you vulnerable to injury. Stay indoors if you can.

People cope better with power cuts when they have prepared for them in advance. It’s easy to do; consider gathering torches and batteries, a mobile phone power pack and other essential items.

Be prepared for weather warnings to change quickly. When a weather warning is issued, the Met Office recommends staying up to date with the weather forecast in your area.

8 Honest hard working men, out to do a days work never to return home! Will we ever get the enquiry and justice for this IRA massacre and many others like it?

07/12/2024

We are dealing with and receiving dozens of reports of highway disruptions across the district and indeed across the country as a result of Storm Darragh.

Our colleagues in Roads Service, DfI and other partner agencies are also working to clear obstructions as quickly and as safely as possible.

Our advice remains the same - please do not travel unless absolutely necessary.

The risk remains very high to both motorists and pedestrians and will remain so until late on Saturday night.

Ask yourself:

- Can my journey wait until the worst of the storm has passed?

- Is it safer to rearrange non-essential plans?
Would a phone call or a text message suffice instead of getting into the car or walking along tree-lined roads?

Thank you.

Very pleased to give my full support to Glenn on his campaign for the General Election!

TUV message has been clear from the start, NO to a border between here and the rest of the UK and NO to EU Laws!! 🇬🇧🇬🇧

In Mid Ulster your TUV / Reform UK candidate is Glenn Moore.

Glenn has lived all his life in Mid Ulster. He is married and has two children. Involved in the band scene, he is a member of Dunamoney flute. He is also a member of the Orange Order and Apprentice Boys.

He is a committee member of Tobermore Community Projects.

Glenn stood in the last Assembly election for TUV in which he dramatically increased the TUV vote and finished runner up.

DUP’s ‘Safeguarding the Union’ exposed as a sham

Addressing TUV’s Central Council meeting in Cookstown on Friday night, Jim Allister said the DUP/Donaldson Deal was now deservedly exposed as a sham.

“When the DUP jumped and accepted ‘Safeguarding the Union’ it sought to justify its climbdown actions by claiming its deal would not only remove the Irish Sea border but fully restore NI’s place in the United Kingdom by reason of the successive delivery steps in its deal. By October new legislation would deliver all that was promised!

“Now, by October the PM won’t even be in office, nor any legislation passed, and the DUP’s deal stands exposed as a threadbare sham. Such is what comes from the nativity of jumping first and squandering the only leverage they had. Clearly, Sunak never intended delivery, but the DUP fell for it hook, line and sinker.

“Yet, the easily tricked DUP now pretends they will deliver after the election. No, they won’t! Suddenly, the narrative has switched from deal done, sea border gone to a work in progress. How pathetic!

“Meanwhile, the constitutional reality is a Northern Ireland detached into the EU’s orbit, under foreign laws and a foreign partitioning border. This is the legacy of the DUP and its outgoing MPs. Yet, with brazen effrontery they demand unionists trust them again. Unlike the DUP, unionist voters once bitten will be twice shy.

“Only a vote for TUV/Reform UK will count against the Protocol. All others are now, sadly, in the implementation camp.”
