📚 Welcome to Furze Platt! 📚
We are looking forward to welcoming our students for the start of Term 1 and a brand-new academic year! 🎉

📅 Thursday 3 September – First Day
Our first day back will be an induction day for new Year 7 and Year 12 students only.

🎓 Year 12: Students are encouraged to arrive on site by 8.15am.
📚 Year 7: Students should arrive by 8.30am.

🚪 Gate opening times:
• Front Gate: 8.00–8.45am
• Back Gate: 8.20–8.45am

📅 Friday 4 September – All other year groups
Students in Years 8, 9, 10, 11 and 13 will begin Term 1 on Friday 4 September.
🅰️ Timetable: It will be Week A when students return.

We can't wait to see our new and returning students and get the new academic year underway. We hope everyone has had a wonderful summer and is looking forward to a fantastic year ahead! 💙

Our Year 10 Food & Nutrition students last academic year got creative in the kitchen, making beautiful decorative layered gateaux! 🎂✨

From carefully layering and assembling their cakes to adding the finishing decorative touches, students have been developing their practical skills, creativity and attention to detail.

🎨 Year 8 Design & Technology: Finished Designs! 🎨

Take a look at some fantastic examples of our Year 8 Design & Technology projects, created with Mr Twiney.

As part of the project, students were challenged to design and make a game for a 7-year-old, using a range of materials and techniques to create an engaging way to move a ball from start to finish. 🎯

From the initial design ideas through to the finished game boards, students have demonstrated creativity, problem-solving and practical making skills to bring their ideas to life.

🎓 GCSE RESULTS DAY & SIXTH FORM REGISTRATION – TOMORROW! 🎓

A reminder to all our Year 11 students that GCSE, Cambridge Nationals, BTEC Tech Award and NCFE VCert results will be available tomorrow – Thursday 20 August 2026.

📍 For current Furze Platt Year 11 students:
🕗 8.00–11.00am – Results can be collected in person from the Theatre. Results will be available from desks organised alphabetically by surname.

📍 External students holding a conditional offer:
Registration for Sixth Form will take place Thursday 20th August.
🕗 1.00pm –3.00pm in the English Block, rooms E1-E3.

🎨🐘 Our new entrance mural is complete! 🐘🎨

Take a look at our wonderful new mural at the front of Furze Platt! The vibrant design has been inspired by the student-designed elephants created for our involvement in Trunks Across the Thames, the fantastic Thames Hospice fundraising art trail.

Our students and staff have worked together to bring the mural to life, creating a striking new entrance feature that celebrates the creativity and spirit of the Furze Platt community.

And this is just the beginning! 👀 In October, our two elephant sculptures, Borough and Scout, will return to school and take pride of place in front of the mural as a permanent feature.

A huge thank you to our dedicated team of student painters, Mrs K Barnes, Mrs L Hawkins and our Site Team for all their hard work in making this project possible. 👏

We can't wait to see the finished entrance come together later this year! 💗🐘
