ROYAL BOROUGH OF WINDSOR AND MAIDENHEAD
(FOOTPATH 19 MAIDENHEAD) (PART) PUBLIC PATH DIVERSION AND DEFINITIVE MAP AND STATEMENT MODIFICATION ORDER 2026
The above named Order, made on 22 September 2026, under section 119 of the Highways Act 1980 and section 53A (2) of the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981, will, if confirmed as made, divert part of public footpath 19 Maidenhead and modify the definitive map and statement as shown on the Order map.
The section of footpath subject to the Order run over land north of the Summerleaze site, Maidenhead and west of Lower Cookham Road. The grid references of the start and finish points of the sections of footpath proposed to be diverted are: 489018, 183220 and 489342, 183651, respectively.
A copy of the Order and the Order map have been placed and may be seen free of charge at Maidenhead Library, St Ives Road, Maidenhead, SL6 1QU during normal opening hours. Copies of the Order and the map may be bought there.

Former Hitachi site, Lower Cookham Road: have your say before 27 October**
A planning application (**26/02271/FULL**) has been submitted to RBWM for open storage on the former Hitachi site. It includes:
🚛 Open storage for up to 3 tenants (bulk building materials, containers, heavy equipment)
🏢 Two double-storey Portacabin-style offices
⏰ Operating hours of 7am-7pm
🚚 Peak HGV traffic of around 15 movements an hour (roughly one every 4 minutes), mainly 8-10am
💡 High-level floodlighting that could be visible through the night
🌿 Extensive hardstanding, with questions over drainage, flood risk and the impact on Battlemead's wildlife
Residents may want to consider the effects on noise, dust and dirt, road safety, congestion, light pollution and the character of the area.
**How to comment:** search "RBWM planning application 26/02271", read the documents, and submit your own comments to the Council by **27 October 2026**.

500 SIGNATURES ✍️ IN UNDER TWO DAYS!

A huge thank you to everyone who has signed and shared the petition to protect the future of Pets Corner at Ray Mill Island.

More than 500 people have now added their names in less than 48 hours.

As people have asked, I wanted to mention I also submitted an official RBWM ePetition before launching this Change petition, which is currently awaiting their approval. That will be really important in taking this through the Council’s formal process, and

I’ll share the link through this petition as soon as it goes live.
We’ll also be looking at what more we can do over the coming days to keep raising the issue constructively and, importantly, get some answers from RBWM.

For now, let’s try to get to 750!
