We have been made aware of a post from Barming Fish & Chip Shop that Rodger passed away earlier this year, this may just be a genuine confusion, but please be advised that

RODGER IS VERY MUCH STILL AROUND

It seems he’s been housed and is getting support, which we are so pleased to hear!!

Rodger is ALIVE!
I just spoke to him for 20 minutes!
The fake news about his “death” thankfully is a load of BU****IT!

Some of you may know that the team behind Friends of Rodger also run Pukka Ponies... hope you guys don’t mind. We have an appeal for help for this little guy, it was actually a lady from this page who unknowingly played a small part in his discovery on Sunday!! This little pony was discovered with terribly neglected feet - it’s going to be a long road to recovery but we will get him fixed 💚

Weʼre raising money to fund Billy’s specialist farrier & vet care. Support this JustGiving Crowdfunding Page.

Had a couple of people ask about Rodger in this weather. He’s staying with a friend and is in the warm and dry :)

Rodger is coming out of hospital today. Can we ask everyone to please not overwhelm him with kindness. We have passed on donated items and there is plenty of support there which he can make use of. He would like to return to his normality, so maybe just look out for him and give a cheery hello, hot drinks would be great too! If you have time for a quick chat that would be great!

Please bear in mind Rodger is vegetarian and therefore any food offered would need to be non-meat items. He has a selection of non-perishable nibbles and sweet treats which were left in & around his tent. If you see him and have the chance to offer a hot meal please do. I know Barming Chip Shop are happy to support him with food which is fantastic.

We want to do the best for Rodger but also support his wishes so for now we are going to take a step back and let him live his life the way he wishes. We will be here to support for future and any concerns can be sent to us we will do our best to support however possible.

Thank you all for being a fantastic community; and most importantly thank you for caring!

We have some ponchos & a trolley which have been kindly donated, if anyone has some luggage straps and weatherproof bags in neutral colours that would be fab.

We have some great news, Rodger is doing well. There is the possibility of him coming out of hospital soon... however please can we ask people not swamp Rodger direct with offers of support and help. We spoke to him today and he is in good spirits which is amazing to hear, but could easily be overwhelmed by everyone’s kindness.

We are going to do everything we can to support him, but ultimately it’s his choice regarding his accommodation. He is due to return to his tent, and therefore we have a few items that will be hugely of use if anyone would like to donate.

🔴 Pull along trolley, with plenty of space.
🔴 Waterproof hold-all style bag
🔴 Luggage straps/bungees for securing items to above mentioned trolley.
🔴 Disposable rain ponchos

Will add more items as needed.

Also - if there is someone in the Barming area that would be prepared to permit a safe outdoor storage area for items that would be of great use I think. Please PM us if you can help.

An update at last

We have been given an update. Rodger is still recovering in hospital care, he was moved from the ward he was on and due to the immense pressure on the NHS updates haven’t been as frequent. We are of course pleased he is receiving the care he needs and hope for another update soon.

In the season of goodwill, a community has rallied around with gifts for a much-loved homeless man who had to be taken to hospital.

Going to pop this on his tent tomorrow as lots of lovely people are still leaving items for him. I have picked up the items left as of this evening and will ensure all non perishable food is added to his stockpile and clothes are stored safe x

Hi all... just to say that his mum is so grateful for all the love for Rodger. 🙏🏻... I spoke to her earlier this evening. As Sarah said earlier, he is being cared for and please post here any messages of well wishes etc... any updates on his condition will be brief so that he and his family have privacy. As soon as I get the okay from his mum that he is well enough to receive visitors, I will of course let you know. It’s early days at the mo . One day at a time... keep the love 💗 🙏🏻😘

Update from family; “Rodger is still in hospital, we are so appreciative of all the love for him! He is in the best place and getting all the care he needs.”

Feel free to post messages wishing him well, we will do our best to ensure he sees them!
