“Don’t trust me, I am a .....”
On 31st October 2000 the Patient Support Trust came into being combining my 2 passions - children and patient safety/patient rights. This date was also my son’s 15th birthday. I felt privileged when on 24.11.1995 I became Kent’s Businesswoman of the Year & decided to use any power & influence I had as a Kent business leader to give back to the community. My biggest challenge as an empowering management consultant was Kent’s predominant bullying culture which means our economy under-performs & stress-related health issues are a problem. In the days following Princess Diana’s funeral in September 1997 I started publicly campaigning for children, their rights and their right to have good role models. In September 1999 a global child p**n website was shut down in Texas & I came to realise that a risk assessment had been done as to who in Kent was most likely to want the UK’s Operation Ore perverts (who had used their credit cards to pay to view such filth as fathers ra**ng children) arrested & their children safeguarded .... Kent’s Operation Ore fat cats were correct in their risk assessment of the situation - I was and I am still their greatest threat. Harassment of myself increased in September 1999 via freemason Health & Safety advisers from Maidstone working at my business, Laurom Health & Safety Ltd. My life changed direction forever after I went to see my GP, Dr Chris Godsmark in early February 2000. I had a prolapse & wanted to consult an expert. I had previously consulted a Maidstone gynaecologist privately & he had moved me up the NHS waiting list via this route, so I decided to do the same again. My GP referred me to Miss Ann Henderson at the BMI Somerfield Hospital Maidstone, the appointment was on 9.2.2000. Dr/Major Henderson lied to me to persuade me to have an operation privately as a medical emergency. I believed that I had cancer & so agreed to an emergency vaginal hysterectomy that she told me there was a long waiting list for on the NHS. She used my mother’s death by cancer to help persuade me. I attended the hospital for tests on 11.2.2000 & as I had no spare cash for emergency operations I paid £3500 for the operation via a BMI credit card. I was promised that I needed only a 3 day stay and that I would be back at work in 14 days. This was important as it was my business’ busiest time of the year, I had no competent cover and I had to arrange for emergency child care support via my aunt who was then 80+. The biggest mistake that I ever made in my life was to trust a doctor, my second biggest ever mistake was to bring my children up to respect Maidstone Police. The BMI operation took place on 14.2.2000, Dr Henderson had been operation all morning at Maidstone NHS Hospital and I was last on the list of 4 BMI patients to be operated on that afternoon. I was asked to consent to an epidural, I refused consent but later found out that I was given it anyway. I later found out that there were people in the operating theatre that I had not consented to being there eg a gynaecologist from Queen Mary’s Sidcup. The operation on Valentine’s night went badly wrong, I felt the need to fight the effects of the anaesthesia & stay awake all night, I lost the ability to speak. In the morning I asked why I had had such an adverse reaction to a general anaesthetic, no one would answer me. The BMI Somerfield Hospital business development manager was on my Kent Business Network steering committee - it was arranged that a beauty therapist from The Retreat Beauty Centre would come to my room to give me a massage for my whiplash injuries sustained during the operation. I paid my stress therapist, Margaret Kenyon, to travel from Appledore to the BMI Somerfield Hospital on 17.2.2000 to give me treatment. Then I felt able to sack my surgeon who was still ignoring me and not answering my questions. I rang my old home number & spoke to Dr David Penman who had bought my home from me, David agreed to takeover from Dr Henderson. I then told the BMI nurse that I never wanted to see Dr Henderson again, but she came back & said that Miss Henderson had abandoned her lecturing commitments in Medway and was on her way to see me. I objected but to no avail as Miss Henderson burst into my room & started shouting at me - I ignored her & she eventually went away. David Penman’s wife later told me that she and David had been in bed when they got a late night phone call, it was Dr Jonathan Goodman whom Dr Henderson had consulted about me. Dr Goodman in typical gangster-like behaviour warned Dr Penman off their BMI Somerfield Hospital private income patch. David Penman did replace Dr Henderson on 17.2.2000 but when I was discharged on 19.2.2000 it was Dr Henderson who wrote the BMI Somerfield Hospital discharge note to my GP, which effectively said “Yolande is mad”. I was then earning £158,000 but I was a medical accident patient & therefore a piece of s**t in comparison to a doctor. Dr Henderson had at her beck and call a whole army of masons, doctors, police, politicians, reporters et al to cover her back. My claim was circa £5 million. I paid to see a neurologist privately at the BUPA Alexandra but with medical records being withheld it was not easy to help me. I paid to see an eye consultant privately at the same hospital. I had collapsed in my GP surgery after discharge from the BMI Somerfield Hospital and an ambulance took me from there to Maidstone NHS Hospital where a cover-up was led by Dr Henderson & Dr Goodman, records were falsified. It took me 55 months before I learned via Rose Gibb that one of the 2 infections that I had caught in the BMI Somerfield Hospital was MRSA, but by that time a Province of East Kent masons had smashed up every aspect of my life. In June 2000 I launched a medical accident website which quickly became the most popular in the world, I had been researching medical scandals ie Dr Shipman & Kent’s own Dr Ledward, I had been to Bristol to meet the lady running the Bristol Babies scandal support group. Dr Phil Hammond of Private Eye sent me his book “Trust me, I am a doctor ..... “with a message. Via my medical accident website I was contacted by Dr Geoff Roberts who has a passion about patient safety, we teamed up to develop a project to use in Maidstone in the light of medical scandals & my experience. ITV Meridian News wanted to interview me in June 2000, a solicitor suggested to me that I contact Maidstone’s BMA Rep Dr Paul Hobday, so I did. I met the ITV film crew outside his Sutton Valence Surgery, they filmed us in his surgery consulting room where he agreed to support a pilot project led by Dr Roberts & myself, but when I watched the ITV Meridian News the conversation had been dubbed out. The next thing was that Dr Hobday appeared in the Kent Messenger telling the public to take no notice of what I was saying and that patients should trust their GP. There is a medical accident horror story in every family, 99.99% of patients are never allowed to heal/recover from their ordeal. I still have PTSD. The NHS Constitution gives patients enforceable rights. On 24.8.2018 I started legal action against the NHS to enforce my rights. My claim against the NHS was issued on 20.9.2018, but my claim was blocked by those in power who had my front door smashed down on 19.12.2018 and had me illegally locked up for 8 days over Christmas. I have more GBH injuries via the NHS. I am today renewing my claim against the NHS (to save the NHS due to criminal actions which will follow on from my GBH criminal injuries) - there are 4 defendants - KMPT, West Kent CCG, Maidstone NHS Hospital & North Cumbria CCG. It is now almost 3 years since I asked for a copy of my GP medical records ....but they are being withheld.
