Today’s INSET day has been focused on one of our key priorities for the year ahead: supporting students with their reading.

Staff have spent time exploring the most effective strategies to help students access texts, develop confidence, and strengthen the reading skills they need across every subject. Reading will continue to be a major focus for us as a school, and we are excited to build on this work in the coming year.

We look forward to welcoming students back tomorrow and seeing our Year 11 students continue their excellent efforts during the exam season.

A reminder for Year 11: there is always a reason to be in school. Our daily Exam Busters continue to run, giving students the chance to receive focused support before their exams.

We are proud of the commitment shown by both staff and students as we continue to work together to help every learner succeed.

A season to be proud of for The Lenham School

The Lenham School narrowly lost out 2-1 to St Simon Stock in the final, in a game where the boys can feel incredibly unlucky not to have come away with more.

This has been an outstanding season for the team. They won their league in style, with impressive victories over St Augustine’s, The Malling School and Valley Park, before going on to secure a brilliant 3-1 semi-final win against OPGS.

Lenham started the final superbly and controlled much of the first half. Seb went close on two occasions, Fehn had an effort cleared off the line, and it was Fehn who eventually put Lenham ahead after rounding the goalkeeper and finishing after the rebound. The boys went into half-time with a deserved 1-0 lead.

The second half was a closer contest, with St Simon Stock seeing more of the ball, but Lenham defended with real determination and limited them to very few clear chances. Unfortunately, St Simon Stock equalised after a loose clearance and then found a late winner at the back post. In the dying seconds, Eddie came incredibly close to taking the game to penalties with a strike that looked destined for the bottom corner, only for the goalkeeper to get the slightest touch and push it onto the post.

The boys will understandably be disappointed, but they should also be incredibly proud of everything they have achieved this year. They have represented The Lenham School brilliantly and shown quality, resilience and team spirit throughout a fantastic season.

A fantastic day of house competition!

Well done to all students who took part in today’s event. It was brilliant to see so much effort, teamwork and support across Years 7, 8 and 9, with students representing their houses with real pride.

Congratulations to our year group winners:

Year 7: Chilston
Year 8: Nepean
Year 9: Maylam
After all the points were added together, the overall winners were Maylam House — a fantastic achievement!

A special mention also goes to the Staff Team, who were crowned champions in the Staff vs Sixth Form match.

Thank you to everyone who helped support and organise the event. It was an enjoyable day for all involved, including the many students who came along to watch and cheer others on.

A fantastic day of collaboration and friendship!

Our students had a brilliant time working with students from our partner French school, both here at school and during a visit to Canterbury.

At school, students took part in a tour, completed a bilingual “find someone who…” activity in French and English, and played “stand up if…”. It was especially lovely to see some of our students confidently coming up with their own ideas in French!

In Canterbury, the rain didn’t dampen spirits as students began with a picnic before working in mixed groups to complete a treasure trail in both languages.

By the end of the day, students were chatting, playing football together, exchanging contact details and asking when they could meet again. It was wonderful to hear how much they had gained from the experience — especially their pride in having spoken French throughout the day.

A fantastic example of language learning, confidence and international friendship in action.

Well done, Year 11!

We would like to recognise the fantastic hard work, effort and commitment shown by our Year 11 students so far. They have made an amazing start to their GCSE exams and we are incredibly proud of the maturity and determination they have demonstrated.

As we move into the next stage of the exam period, we encourage students to keep using the revision strategies they have practised, stay focused, and make the most of the support available to them.

There are also holiday revision sessions being offered during the break for Dance, Geography and History. Students can book their place using the Forms link sent to parents last week.

In addition, there will be a Year 11 virtual Maths revision session on Teams at 4pm on Friday, which students will be able to access via their iPads.

Keep going, Year 11 — you’ve started brilliantly, and we are all behind you!

Our Year 8 Girls Football Team competed in the Maidstone Schools Football Finals at The Gallagher Stadium, where only the top four schools took part: Invicta, Lenham, St Simon Stock and Maidstone Grammar School for Girls.

Lenham worked incredibly hard in their opening match against Invicta but were beaten by a strong side. The girls responded brilliantly in their next fixture against Maidstone Grammar School for Girls, dominating play throughout and securing an excellent 3–0 win.

This result meant Lenham finished third overall in the competition — a fantastic achievement and one the girls are rightly very proud of.

Goals came from Bo and Phoebe, with Players of the Match awarded to Lara and Bo. Every player gave 100% effort and represented Lenham with real pride.

Well done to the whole team on a brilliant performance and a fantastic competition.

Unfortunately, our Year 8 boys narrowly lost out to The Malling School in their final at the Gallagher Stadium.

The first half was closely contested, with both teams creating chances. In the end, it was a moment of real quality that gave Malling the lead, as their attacker cut inside and bent a shot into the top corner.

In the second half, Lenham continued to push and created chances through Rocco and Bodhi, but were unable to find the back of the net. Riley made several excellent saves to keep Lenham in the game and give the team every chance of finding an equaliser.

Backed by a loud and passionate group of supporters, Lenham rallied late on. In the dying seconds, Holland struck an effort from range, but it was well saved by the goalkeeper.

Everyone involved in the game, from the players to the spectators, really did The Lenham School proud. The team showed determination, togetherness and maturity throughout.

Congratulations to all students involved on a fantastic season.

Our Year 10 football team battled incredibly well , but came up just short in a highly entertaining final.

Lenham made an electric start, with Boris opening the scoring from a Drewett corner. The excitement continued when Boris made a superb tackle to win back possession before squaring the ball for Will to finish and make it 2–0.

MGS then found a way back into the game, bringing the score level at 2–2 despite several smart saves from Jenson to keep Lenham in front. The turning point came just before half-time, when an MGS midfielder scored from distance with an excellent strike.

Lenham started the second half brilliantly and thought they had equalised when Ronnie tapped home, but the linesman’s flag was raised. This proved to be a pivotal moment, as shortly after, MGS got the rub of the green when the ball bounced kindly for them to go 4–2 ahead.

Lenham continued to battle and nearly pulled one back through Drewett, who dribbled past four players before seeing his effort saved. As the team pushed forward in search of a way back into the game, MGS scored again to put the result beyond reach.

Despite the final score, all the boys showed excellent maturity on the pitch and battled right until the last minute. It has been another fantastic season for the team, reaching a cup final and finishing in the top eight of the Kent Cup.

Player of the Match for Lenham was Declan, although there were several outstanding performances to choose from.

Well done to all involved — a brilliant effort and a season to be proud of.
