🚒 A smoke alarm alerted around 30 people to a tumble dryer fire at a temple in Hatfield Peverel this afternoon attended by crews from Maldon and Colchester.
Everyone did the right thing – they got out, stayed out and called 999.
Thankfully, nobody was injured and firefighters quickly dealt with the fire.
Station Manager Steve Kirkham said: "That early warning from the smoke alarm gave everyone the time they needed to get to safety.
"Fires can develop quickly, but today’s incident shows the difference a working smoke alarm can make."
