🩷💜💙🩵💛💚
We have had such a awesome response to our shout out for pairs or hearts for Scarborough and York hospital critical care.
This is one final shout out if you are knitting or hope to be involved you have just over 1 week untill close at 12:30pm next Saturday 6th June to hand them in so there is still time to get knitting and drop them off to us here at Malton Library.
After next Saturday a member of staff will then take them directly to our ICUs at York or Scarborough hospitals to donate on everyone’s behalf.
Thank you to everyone that’s been knitting so far ..
If you would like to get involved the pattern is linked below.

Local community history month Rillington display

* One final request if you have a few moments and have been in and seen the display please take a moment and comment below to say you have seen the display and any thought on it or memories you wish to share…
We would really be so grateful for your feedback and comments.

It’s nearly the end of May and this morning (Saturday) will be the final few hours of the Historical Rillington Study Group local history exhibition at Malton Library.

Thank you to everyone who has visited; the library has spotted many visitors from Rillington and the comments have been overwhelmingly positive and as above we would love to have your comments.

If you haven’t visited yet and you have a few minutes this morning, please do pop in!

They hope to have another short exhibition in the Autumn in Scampston Bothies featuring the stories of Scampston and Rillington schools, and next year we will be celebrating the centenary of the Rillington Pageant.

Roman Workshop
We had such an amazing morning with Malton Museum yesterday celebrating all things Roman as part of our local community history month.
Thank you to all the families that participated, our previous story time was really well attended but this workshop exceeded even that. Lots of children had so much fun learning about our very own roman, learnt some Latin greetings, found out about daily life, and we even had chance to dress up along with some time to play roman games.
Huge thank you to Malton museum for again giving your time and energy to share such amazing things with us all, it was great to spend time learning about things you are so passionate about.

Don’t forget we still have our two wonderful displays by both Malton Museum and Rillington one place study with us for a few more days so please do pop in and take time to see them before they go.

We're looking for young people aged between 13 and 24 to help inspire young readers through the Summer Reading Challenge.

Volunteers are needed to work alongside library staff to help run and promote the challenge, which encourages children to read six library books over the summer holidays.

This year’s theme is Read to the Beat, inspiring children to explore the connection between stories and songs, and discovering how reading and music ignite creativity.

To find out more, visit https://www.northyorks.gov.uk/news/2026/call-volunteers-lead-music-themed-reading-challenge or contact your local library.
