Redcar Home Guard

Redcar Home Guard We are also currently re-enacting the 8th Battalion of the Yorkshire Regiment in World War One with this being the Centenary year for the start of WW1.

Redcar Home Guard is a World War Two Re-enactment group representing and remembering Redcar Home Guard during the war years from 1940 to 1944 the actual area and battalion is NORTH RIDING OF YORKSHIRE (NRY) 4TH BATTALION (4) attached to the GREEN HOWARDS. Welcome to Redcar Home Guard page, We are looking for other local people who would be interested in joining the group to re-enact repre

senting Redcar Home Guard from the war years age range is 16 to 65 the good thing about re-enacting the Home Guard is you can be your own age where all other services Army, Navy or Airforce most of the personnel in the war years were in their late teens and early twenties ! If anyone doesn't know where Redcar is please use GOOGLE MAPS and type in TS10 as the postcode many thanks to anyone who has found and read this page for more information please email [email protected]. We are currently running both WW2 and WW1 along side each other and have had great success doing this. Why are we re-enacting WW1 if we are a WW2 re-enactment group. Firslty it is the Centenary 100 years since the start of WW1 and secondly both main members of Redcar Home Guard had Great Grandfathers in the same Regiment which was the 4th Battalion the Yorkshire Regiment this was a territorial Regiment. Both main members Grandfathers were also in the Redcar Home Guard together in WW2 so this is another reason why we do what we do.

Eden Camp 1940s Weekend October 12th 2024.

A few photos from the Saturday of Eden Camps 1940s event which would of been the same weekend as the Pickering 1940s weekend of which now no longer exists due to total lack of everything from the NYMR and Pickering town council. I did email both organisations when they announced the towns 1940s weekend was to be no more with no reply! Say no more. 👎

Well done to Eden Camp for putting on this new event we will be back next year.

A poem dedicated to our late Queen Elizabeth II 1926 - 2022.

Philip came to me today,
and said it was time to go.
I looked at him and smiled,
as i whispered that "I know"

I then turned and looked behind me,
and saw I was asleep.
All my Family were around me,
and I could hear them weep.

I gently touched each shoulder,
with Philip by my side.
Then I turned away and walked,
with My Angel guide.

Philip held my hand,
as he lead the way,
to a world where King's and Queens,
are Monarch's every day.

I was given a crown to wear
or a Halo known by some.
The difference is up here,
they are worn by everyone.

I felt a sense of peace,
my reign had seen its end.
70 years I had served my Country,
as the peoples friend.

Thank you for the years,
for all your time and love.
Now I am one of two again,
in our Palace up above.
