Chorlton Book Festival starts on the 17th September so we have partnered with Chorlton Library to celebrate by collecting your book donations!

Bring your pre-loved books and pop them in our new donation bin.

We are looking for adult and child fiction and non fiction in good condition that will then be shared around our little libraries across Greater Manchester and especially in Chorlton.

Please do not add in any religious texts, text books, or out of date non fiction.

Thanks to Manchester Libraries for allowing the donation box.

Let us know if you drop any books off. If you have a larger donation please contact us via the website. Link in bio.

Did you know its Book Club Day! Did you also know we have and amazing book club thats been running since March 2021! What a dark and depressing time that was and what else were we to do but start an online book club as part of our books without barriers mantra.

We have asked the book clubbers what they think about book club! My favourite quote is " We are an amazing group full of kindness and laughter" so if you are looking for a friendly, online book club that reads a diverse range of authors and genres then look no further and send an email to [email protected].

You can check out all our past and upcoming books at our website, link in bio or search for Manchester Library trail- events-bookclub.

Anyone else at the pulp pre party at yesterday? We were so of course I had a little library tidy up of

What an evening!

If you are heading to any of the remaining gigs why not bring a book to add to the library?

It definitely needs a few more adding!

On Monday we popped over to the Lakeside centre at Platt Fields park to top up the (big) Little Library. As you can see it was a good job we did!

We filled it with most of our overflow stock. If you are heading there over the bank holiday weekend please do take some books with you and check out what's on the shelf.

Catching up with this months book club read The Lion Women of Tehran by Marjan Kamali, whilst having a cuppa at the Royal Exchange Theatre on this rainy Thursday. No better way to spend an afternoon.

Next book club is on Friday 4th September 19:30 via Zoom where will discuss this book plus anything else we have been reading.

💪We said Heightvale Ltd have been busy! As well as the Bolton Little Library project they have also given their time and skills to fixing and updating some of our existing little libraries.

Minehead Little Free Library is looked after by the wonderful Vicky in Withington. The original library was built for us in 2021 but had been leaking and mouldy for a while. Steve from Heightvale took it away and unfortunately it was beyond repair 😩 So he made a brand new one🥳. Mark and Steve also shortened the pole so its easier for everyone to access. 👏

🌟What a transformation!

📍You can find this little library at Dermot Murphy Close near the Bus turning area, check it out on our map. Let us know if you pay it a visit.

We have had a very exciting weekend with the first new little libraries of our partnership with Heightvale Ltd being installed on Saturday.

This brand new little library has been built and installed by Heightvale and we reached out to people in Bolton to apply to get their own library.

This one was requested by Stef from Friends of Hulton and can be found at the precinct on Newbrook Road.

When Stef applied she said they had lost their mobile library service and older people found it difficult to get books from the library at the nearest town and bring them home. The library is named the Dorothy Williams Little Library after a voracious reader who loved a little library and would always stop for a look.

Heightvale also provided a set of books to get them started.

Look out for more little libraries being installed soon!
