Monday 29th June, 6pm at Wythenshawe Library.
Find out what happened to local communities when farmland became the urban centre now known as Wythenshawe. Told with a special insight into the generational history of one family – the Adsheads and McLeans.

Consider yourself invited to our 🤩Party on Thursday 18 June 3-6pm at Withington Library to celebrate the Marcus Rashford Wall of Hope Education Resource - banging poetry from Jay Chambers, banging Bees (Lego!) and spray painting courtesy of the amazing Withington Wall, banging books (Summer Reading Challenge), explore this great free resource, brilliant archives, and lots more plus refreshments (and did we mention cake?)

New research from National Literacy Trust shows a modest upturn in children and young people’s reading enjoyment and daily reading , after a 20 - year low.
But reading enjoyment levels are still worryingly low.
The National Year of Reading invites everyone to 'Go All In' on their passions through reading.
Whatever you're into – gaming, fashion, football, music, baking – read into it!

Read Manchester were proud to support Manchester City Council's Big School Climate Assembly event this week, where student representatives from schools across Manchester gathered at Town Hall Extension's Rates Hall to celebrate the amazing climate work taking place across Manchester.
Read Manchester gifted free books, including many about nature and environmental themed titles, to the young people in attendance, encouraging them to Go All In and read about the subjects they are passionate about this National Year of Reading! 🌍🌳♻

🌍This week we celebrated Earth Day and today Dr Mya Rose Craig, also known as Bird Girl visited Manchester to inspire students from three high schools, helping them to think about all the ways they can make small and large changes at home and in their communities to help the environment.
🐦Visiting Forum Library creative space and Didsbury library Mya-Rose spoke to the students about how bird watching and getting out into nature changed her life and helped her family during a time of need. She also spoke about all the campaigning she has done as a young person and showed how young people can be the voice of change.
🌍Mya-Rose asked the students to make a pledge for what they might do next, from litter picking to no mow May, warning people about the impact of using AI to writing to their MP, they all made pledges to get out there and do something for the earth. What inspiring sessions.
