UPDATE *We disbanded in April 2023, but the campaign fights on!*
Visit our sister page Friends of Ryebank Fields for updates 💚
Our camp was established on Ryebank Fields in April 2021 to help protect this rewilded urban greenspace in South Manchester. It's home to over 1400 trees, and scores of bird and mammal species. After 20 years of being left to pretty much 'do its thing' with minimal human
intervention or cost, it's now a fantastic example of the Urban Rewilding everyone is now talking about in tackling the climate and biodiversity crisis. Ryebank Fields was gifted to Manchester Metropolitan University by Manchester Council many years ago, under the agreement that the area be maintained for use as playing fields - but they are now planning to sell the land for housing "development". We are part of a flourishing community of committed supporters who are dedicated to the preservation of the fields, which have proved themselves essential for neighbourhood health and well being, especially during the last few years. If you would like to visit us or join those who support what we're doing at the camp, you can Facebook message us on here, or donate to our fundraiser here - https://www.justgiving.com/crowdfunding/ryebank-fields

The Friends of Ryebank Fields have been in existence for a number of years, and are a separate, formally constituted campaign with the same aim, to save the fields from development. Whilst we have different ways of working, our goals are very similar, so please also check out their group here: https://www.facebook.com/groups/FriendsofRyebank/
