Being active in your community is about showing up, listening, and helping in practical ways. Whether it’s picking up litter, supporting neighbours, or protecting local green spaces, we all have a role to play.

Make Education Affordable Again!

I had a trip to Manchester Metropolitan University yesterday, where I met with staff and students to hear about what it's like being at a university today. 44,000 students and over 5000 staff- it's huge!

I'm particularly grateful to the students who took time to sit with me and explain some of the challenges they're facing now. I talk a lot about shared struggles and this is proof that whatever group or community we are in, everyone is hit by the escalating cost of living. Students are finding it hard to live, to study and to plan what life might look like. Insecure and unaffordable housing is affecting too many people. These problems are all fixable- and our movement is growing. I really believe that working together, we can challenge the systems that are forcing inequality on so many people.

Really looking forward to visiting again soon!
