The Communist Party of Britain (CPB) is a Marxist-Leninist political party which was founded in 1920 as the Communist Party of Great Britain (CPGB) and has played an important role since its inception, both leading and taking part in campaigns and broad movements in support of working class people. Today, it is the CPB which continues to support the work of the Morning Star - the worlds only daily

We continue to work with various groups and organisations to advance the causes of the most disadvantaged sections of the country, primarily in the trade union, peace, anti-war and anti-cuts movements. COMMUNIST PARTY OF BRITAIN CONDEMNS STATE ATTACKS ON INDIA'S COMMUNISTS

DATE: 28 May 2026

The Communist Party of Britain condemns the politically motivated raids by government agencies on the Thiruvananthapuram residence of comrade Pinarayi Vijayan former Chief Minister of Kerala (until May 2026), and current leader of the Opposition.

British Communists further condemn the arrests of several leaders of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) who protested publicly in support of comrade Vijayan outside the Delhi headquarters of the Enforcement Directorate.

The use of lawfare and police repression by right wing, conservative governments as weapons against progressive popular forces has become an international phenomenon from the Czech Republic, to Jordan, to Kenya, and now India, the world's largest democracy.

The Communist Party of Britain expresses our total solidarity with India's communists and with our sister party, CPI(M) in its struggle to resist the repressive and undemocratic attacks by politicised agencies of the Indian state on freedom of association, freedom of expression and on the political rights of communists to organise.

India's Communists launched the independence struggle to free India from British imperialism one hundred years ago paying a heavy price of repression. Today CPI(M) stands alongside India's workers and farmers in their fight against repressive anti-working class policies of the Modi government.

The struggle to reclaim and expand political space for the working class will be protracted, but Indian Communists’ line of march remains entirely unbroken.

General Secretary,

On this day 1871, the 2-month Paris Commune was finally crushed, following a ferocious week-long battle, the Semaine Sanglante (Bloody Week).

The brutality of the subsequent crackdown - with up to 15,000 people having been killed, the Commune leaders were executed and thousands either deported or sentenced to forced labour - is a testament to the fear the Commune instilled in the ruling class.

While the Commune was defeated, it stands forever as the first experiment of the Workers' Republic, inspiring revolutionary victory throughout the 20th Century, and remains the model for working class victory to this day.

STATEMENT: COMMUNIST PARTY OF BRITAIN SAYS US IMPERIALIST HANDS OFF CUBA & RAUL CASTRO!

The Communist Party of Britain condemns the Trump regime's political show trial masquerading as a judicial indictment of Cuba's historic leader and former President, comrade Raul Castro Ruiz.

The US President's latest spurious judicial process intended to distract attention from Trump's humiliating political and diplomatic failure in his recent meeting with President Xi in Beijing has long been demanded by right wing Cuban exile groups. The US Department of Justice indictment against Raul Castro constitutes a further escalation in the economic and political warfare being waged by the US to overthrow socialist Cuba.

Since the Cuban people's revolution in 1959, US imperialism has sponsored repeated acts of aggression against Cuba's sovereign government and people including the 1961 Bay of Pigs invasion, frequent assassination attempts against Cuban revolutionary leaders, the 1976 bombing of a Cuban airliner (resulting in 73 deaths) and several terrorist attacks against Cuban hotels in the 1990s. Many of these attacks, including as recently as February 2026, were carried out by Cuban nationals residing in the US.

Over the past 67 years the Cuban people have courageously exercised their sovereign right to self defence under the revolutionary leadership of the Communist Party of Cuba.

Britain's labour and trade union movements have a long history of organised solidarity and support for Cuban sovereignty and independence

The current Appeal for Peace and Sovereignty in Cuba and Latin America, is supported by over 100 British MPs and numerous public figures including trade union leaders.

The Communist Party of Britain calls on all friends of Cuba to oppose the latest US attempt to target Raul Castro Ruiz, an exemplary historic leader of the Cuban Revolution. We join the millions of people worldwide demanding an end to US threats and attempts at imperialist intervention in Cuba and of the criminal US economic and energy blockade.

We call on the British government to join the peoples of the world in opposing the indictment of Raul Castro Ruiz the real purpose of which is to provide bogus ‘justification’ for the US threatened military intervention in Cuba.

The Communist Party of Britain calls on all friends of Cuba's people to join us in telling President Donald Trump

- Imperialist Hands Off Raul Castro!

Streeting’s resignation is the inevitable fracture of a political project that has abandoned the working class to serve the interests of capital. We don't need a change of face at the top; we need to build the only daily voice that organises for a real socialist alternative.

🚩PATRIOTS & PARTISANS🚩

Wonderful Victory Day commemoration.

With talks celebrating the anti-fascist resistance, from the British and Irish volunteers in the Spanish Civil War, the partisans who liberated Italy, and the heroic sacrifices of the people of Leningrad during the brutal 900-day N**i-Finnish siege that tried to eradicate the city.

09/05/2026

On the day that marks the final military defeat of N**i fascism, when the Red Flag was raised over Berlin’s Reichstag by soldiers of the victorious Red Army, the Communist Party remembers with respect and admiration all those who sacrificed so much to defeat fascist terror.

Yesterday, in the 2026 elections in England, Scotland and Wales voters delivered a stark verdict on British politics. The clear message that comes through from the highly fragmented electoral results is an overwhelming rejection of the politics and personnel of the current government of Prime Minister Keir Starmer. Voters want change, and for any future change to occur Starmer must go, along with him his crew of Blairites and Mandelson lackeys.

Starmer’s legacy from yesterday's results is that the far-right in British politics, in the form of Reform UK and its various splinter groups, has moved from the fringes to the centre ground of politics in England. From the north-west to the home counties, the reactionary right is occupying the vacuum where a party of the working class should be.

The Communist Party extends its gratitude to every Communist candidate and activist who stood in these elections and those who worked to support the many independent socialist and community candidates across England, Scotland and Wales. You provided a vital socialist alternative to the tide of reactionary establishment politics offered by mainstream political parties during a period of political confusion. We also thank the trade unionists and community campaigners whose work in our communities remains the only effective barrier to the fragmentation of the working class.

Yesterday’s election results are a devastating indictment of Starmer’s government and leadership. By facilitating a clique of corporate interests to ban progressive politics and destroy democracy in their own ranks, the Labour Party has invited its own demolition. It is now evident that the architects of this defeat are politically bankrupt. Their project has encouraged and nourished the far right. They are now the primary obstacle to the recovery of the working class and labour movement.

Starmer's desperate grip on the trappings of his office shows the Deep State's determination to deliver the UK into an EU Single Market deal aimed at boosting UK arms manufacturers. This underlines the central importance of building the peace and anti-war movements as part of a United Front. The Communist Party supports the International Meeting Against War, which will be held in London on Saturday, 20 June, as a step forward.

The Communist Party renews our call for a broad United Front of the working class to replace managed decline with militant organisation. To stop the advance of Reform UK, the left must transform into a mass movement that demands radical change from the bottom up. This requires an alternative economic and political programme to demand immediate material difference to the streets we live on: bringing water and energy back into public hands to slash bills and constructing council housing at a scale not seen for generations.

Rebuilding working class power starts with the eighty per cent of workers who are currently without union representation. Our trade union movement must put resources back into trades councils to restore our local visibility and use every available right to gain entry to workplaces across the country. Our struggle must link directly with community campaigns on housing and the environment, ensuring that anti-racist work is not just a slogan but is embedded in the daily life of our workplaces.

The organised working-class labour movement has faded from many working-class neighbourhoods, and we see the consequences in these election results. The far-right will not be defeated by offering voters the least bad liberal option at the ballot box. It will only be defeated if organised labour reclaims our place in the heart of our communities. We do not mourn these results: we organise to win.
