‘Education Cannot Wait’ (ECW) is the only global fund for education in crises. Since it started in 2017, ECW has operated in some of the most challenging places in the world. This year ECW is asking for investments to help support the education of 9 million children and young people by 2021.

This month, please visit or write to your MP, telling them about the importance of investing in education in emergencies. Ask them to write to new Secretary of State for International Development Alok Sharma MP, encouraging him to invest £75 million in ECW over three years.

To find out more about the campaign, why not join our national conference call on Tuesday 6 August 2019 at 8 pm. We'll have guest speaker Emma Wagner, Education in Emergencies Policy & Advocacy Adviser at Save the Children with us to answer your questions.

Really interesting discussions at the World conference for Lung Health yesterday, all about the fight against Tuberculosis (TB). We had the privilege to speak with experts from all around the world, including the World health organisation (WHO), politicians, charities like MSF and TBAlert, as well as R&D innovators like the TB Alliance and the 3P project who aim to boost the early sharing of research to accelerate the development of better drugs and treatments: http://www.msfaccess.org/3Ps-project . It was a lot to take in, but was very inspiring.

TB is curable but it's still killing one person every 17 seconds, and is seriously under-funded compared to HIV and Malaria. It's also suffers from a lack of investment from the private sector due to it mainly being a disease of very poor people who cannot afford expensive drugs. It is a global problem that needs a big global political response, let's make some noise to tell world leaders to !

Yesterday we had the pleasure of spending the morning with Mike Kane MP, MP for Wythenshawe and Sale East, and former Shadow Minister for International Development. In addition to regaling us with stories about his work both on global development issues and with local families, Mike also gave us some insight on how to engage more effectively with our own communities. A really valuable meeting and wonderful to meet an MP who knows how to connect with his constituents. Thanks for being so supportive of RESULTS UK's work, and best of luck with all your upcoming projects!
