UK - 54%

Guess which country has public ownership of energy?

Excellent advice regarding how to help others and how to access help if you need it in Manchester, via Greater Manchester Poverty Action.

‘At Greater Manchester Poverty Action we have three maps detailing support services for people on low incomes in GM.

This includes our food providers maps. It has the details of 133 foodbanks, 49 food clubs/pantries & 37 meal providers across the region.

I know people want to help people in need, particularly vulnerable older and disabled people, at this time. The food providers as well as the other organisations on our maps already have the appropriate safeguarding and other policies in place to support people. They have the experience to know how to get help to where it is most needed.

Irresponsible panic buying means that many of these organisations have seen a drop in donations.

Please do think about how you can support existing voluntary and community groups over the coming weeks and months. Better to support what we’ve already got rather than creating something that may divert resources and energy away from those organisations best placed to help people.

https://www.gmpovertyaction.org/maps/

We will be surveying our network over the coming weeks to identify how best people can support their activities.’

Lovely words from Cllr Andrew Western, in tribute to a true shero of Trafford Labour, Cllr Jane Baugh.

Thank you for caring, Jane, Trafford’s children were so lucky to have you fighting their corner for so long.

The news has published a lot of people-in-hospital photos in the last week. Here’s one of my many - taken a little over a year ago. We’ve been incredibly lucky - we’ve seen the at it’s absolute best, we couldn’t have bought better care anywhere in the world, not even if we were billionaires. That’s not to say everything was perfect, my daughter had 5 hospital admissions in 9 months, one through A&E when they were so busy, we were put in the little room where they give parents bad news (we couldn’t sit in the waiting room as my daughter had no functioning immune system at the time). We were finally admitted to her ‘home’ ward (haemotology/oncology) at 1am. My daughter is now in remission and has been back at school since September. Sometimes it feels like a miracle, but it wasn’t a magic at all, it was the hard work of of everyone at Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital, from cleaners to consultants. These wonderful people are working in increasingly difficult circumstances, voting will ease that burden.

- Winter Edition.
No, I haven’t moved, my polling station has!
After my daughter was seriously ill last year, I’ve had a period of self reflection, and concerned about our politically divided country I concluded ‘If You Don’t Have Anything Nice To Say, Don’t Say Anything At All’. Problem is, this left me with nothing to say at all 🤷‍♀️ So, today, I say, please think of the most vulnerable person you love, and vote with them in mind. Paula 🌹
