GREAT NEWS FOR ALKRINGTON!!!

After years of hard work and campaigning for funding, this week work, began on the long awaited second new Play Area for Alkrington South Middleton on Mainway Fields. This follows on from the one your Labour South Middleton Team also secured for Rhodes last year.

After consulting with the children in our Alkrington Primary Schools earlier in the year, Cllr June West, Peter Williams and myself, asked the children to enter a competition to think of a name for their new play area. The winning name is MAINWAY MEADOWS AT HIGHER GREEN FARM. What a great name. Well done to everyone who took part. We were overwhelmed with the great ideas and the creative ideas which the children shared with us.

🚨🎉 Middleton Post Office Update 🚨🎉

After meeting the new owners the other day, I can confirm that a new Post Office WILL be located in Middleton’s shopping centre, and there are plans for a new cash machine.

I’m very glad that with the help of hundreds of local people who joined my campaign, meetings with government ministers, the new Middleton Mayoral Development Corporation, and my conversations with Link/Cash Access UK we are to make real progress in securing a future for a post office in the town.

More details soon, but it is great to see progress. And thank you to the new owners for wanting to see improvements so quickly.

After years of hard work and campaigning Middleton is on the up with the Mayoral Development Corporation we initiated and support from our Labour Mayor who is now our Prime Minister and now our new Labour Mayor Bev Craig, Middleton Labour Councillors and our Leader Cllr Neil Emmott.

Now we have another huge announcement to come within the next month. Stay tuned!

Did you know? Thanks to our Labour Government children can travel for FREE on the busses all this August!

But there’s more to come! Thanks to our new Labour Mayor of Greater Manchester Bev Craig for Greater Manchester Mayor from January this will be made permanent and all children aged 11-16 will be able to travel on the busses for FREE all the time! This will save the average family over £500 per year!

That’s in addition to the our pass which allows 16-18 year olds to travel for free on busses!
