Both Fallowfield Labour Councillors Jade and Ghazala have been at The Place at Platt Lane today supporting the community who have been evacuated from Abram Close and Rostherne Avenue following a second suspicious item.

Huge thank you to the wonderful volunteers at The Place who opened up the doors for the second time in less than 24 hours to provide tea, coffee and shelter.

Thankfully everybody is safe, and we remain on site with Council Staff to liaise with GMP, share updates with residents and provide reassurance.

We are beyond lucky to have the Place, it has been a real lifesaver for the community.

If anybody has an questions or concerns, we are asking people to look at GMP's social media or contact us Councillors:

Following on from our visit to Wilbraham Primary School, Cllr Jade and Cllr Ghazala met with the new Executive Member for Highways to raise the pupils' concerns about getting to school safely.

Ghazala identified a funding opportunity, and we are thrilled to confirm that a new Lollipop Person, Oyay, is now in post!

We have had really positive feedback from Princpal Mr Marchant and parents.

There is more to come with a School Streets day arranged for the 18th June.

Fallowfield Labour Councillors are here all year round to listen to your concerns and deliver results!

Great news that the Fallowfield District Centre Plan has secured a Government Grant - well done to Jade, Ghazala (and Ali) for getting the process started and for residents for all their hard work putting together a plan

📢 GOOD NEWS - Fallowfield District Centre Plan gets Government funding from the Economic Development Regeneration Flexible Grant (formerly UKSPF) funds!

We also secured Council Public Realm funding recently too.

This is fantastic news for the District Centre plan which local residents, students and traders have been working hard to develop for over a year.

It means we have funding to support the plans and priorities to make Fallowfield Brow and Wilmslow Road safer, cleaner, and nicer for all you all.

Huge well done to our residents who have shaped this plan, and I'm so proud that Fallowfield Labour Councillors pushed for this process to start two years ago.

Exciting times for Fallowfield 💙

🚦School Streets

It was fantastic to meet Mr Marchant from Wilbraham Primary to talk about road safety and School Streets.

It was also so lovely to hear thoughts on road safety from the year 5's and 6's - they had some fantastic ideas on what will make the roads safer for them getting to School.

We have something planned for clean air day on the 18th June - so watch this space 🚧🚸

Platt Fields Park updates 📢

The Friends of Platt Fields Park came up with a number of suggestions for our park at their last meeting in April.

Me and Ghazala are working with our MP Afzal Khan and Moss Side Labour Councillors to make these suggestions happen, starting with connecting the group with local housing providers to discuss food growing projects on their land, and picking up talks about the safety of the Platt Lane entrance.

We will keep you all updated as things progress 🌳

Birthday Stars is a fantastic project set up by Jess from Fallowfield.

It gives children in temporary accomodation some much-needed joy with a free Birthday Party.

They provide entertainment, cake, a buffet and a chance for parents to make their children happy during such a difficult time.

If you can kindly support the project please see the poster below ❤️

Over the last few weeks we have been hearing from residents that there are issues with crime and anti-social behaviour around the Mallowdale/Caxton/Whitebrook Road areas and the Avian Drive entrance to the Fallowfield loop.

Today I raised this with our Chief Inspector for South Manchester at GMP.

Myself and Ghazala will be doing a walk about Fallowfield with them shortly and we will be asking them to put in place a plan of action to address residents' concerns.

If you live in Fallowfield and have anything you want to raise or need help with contact myself or Ghazala at:
