🎶 125 lat temu urodził się Mieczysław Fogg — głos, którego Polska nigdy nie zapomniała.
Warszawiak, baryton liryczny, człowiek o niezwykłym życiorysie. Walczył w wojnie polsko-bolszewickiej, śpiewał w Qui Pro Quo, przed wojną jako pierwszy polski artysta wystąpił w rodzimej telewizji. Odznaczony tytułem Sprawiedliwego wśród Narodów Świata.
Przez ponad 60 lat kariery dał blisko 16 tysięcy koncertów w 32 krajach. Ostatni raz stanął na scenie w 86. roku życia.

Wokalista, baryton liryczny. Urodził się 30 maja 1901 roku w Warszawie, gdzie też zmarł 3 września 1990 roku. Mistrz sentymentalnej piosenki, legendarny artysta dawnych warszawskich kabaretów i teatrów rewiowych, niezmiennie popularny również po wojnie.

From May 28–31, 2026, Poland’s capital will once again transform into one of Europe’s most important meeting places for readers, writers, publishers, translators, and book lovers from around the world.

Held at PGE Narodowy, the International Warsaw Book Fair will welcome participants from 33 countries and feature more than 1,500 events, including author talks, debates, workshops, premieres, industry meetings, and cultural programmes.

🌍 This year’s Guest of Honour is Sharjah (United Arab Emirates), presenting a unique literary and cultural programme under the theme: “A Tale of Letters. Between Two Civilisations.”

How do you hear a world you cannot see?

Some stories begin with an image. This one begins with sound: the flutter of wings, a bird’s call, the silence before dawn – and a kind of attentiveness most of us still have to learn.
Łukasz Pilip’s reportage, Izabela Dłużyk: The Bird Lady, published in Pismo magazine, tells the story of a blind translator, scholar with a PhD in the humanities, and nature sound recordist who can identify birds by ear and record birdsong with extraordinary precision.
The text has been nominated for the prestigious True Story Award. It is a remarkable distinction: 36 reports were selected from 959 submissions from 103 countries. Łukasz Pilip is the only Polish author among the nominees.
In the coming days, we will share more about a piece of reportage that leads readers through a world of sound, birds and extraordinary sensitivity to nature.
Because sometimes the most important things do not require sight.
They require listening.
