Greater Manchester Autism Consortium

Greater Manchester Autism Consortium The project aims to be a point of contact for anyone in Greater Manchester needing information about autism.

We are here for autistic people, family members and professionals The project aims to be a point of contact for anyone in Greater Manchester needing information about autism and related issues. We provide information to parents, people with ASD and professionals, as well as directing people to the relevant statutory services and voluntary agencies in their own area. Enquiries can be made by teleph

one, email or by letter. An individualised response is provided to each enquiry. The type of information we are able to provide covers a wide variety such as;

Identification and diagnostic assessment

Education

Family Support

Short breaks

Strategies for managing behaviour

Communication tools

Managing stress and anxiety

Relationships

Social and leisure opportunities

Benefits

Employment

Development

The project supports the development of statutory services within each of the 10 Local Authorities through the Autism Services Development Groups. These multi-agency groups, which include parent representatives, look at ways of developing better services for all people with autism. Identifying and Disseminating Good Practice

The project has developed a website and a quarterly newsletter for the region to ensure better access to information about autism within the Greater Manchester region and to disseminate policy development and good practice. The AutismGM Newsletter can be viewed on this site as well as other useful information.
