Year 2 were invited by the Friends of Old Moat to take part in an interactive storytelling session led by local storyteller Cathy from Bob Tales. The event was organised to celebrate the opening of the new outdoor classroom and amphitheater space at Old Moat Park. Although the weather was very wet, it did not stop us from having a wonderful time, and the workshop was moved to Withington Library instead. The children loved listening to the stories Somebody Swallowed Stanley and Tidy, which both shared important messages about looking after our planet and keeping it clean and safe for wildlife. The children thoroughly enjoyed the session and were delighted to leave with a book of their own to keep.

This week’s CARITAS Award goes to Shelby, who was nominated after staff recognised the incredible effort and dedication she showed during the Year 4 Shakespeare project. Shelby demonstrated outstanding kindness and support towards all of her peers throughout the experience.
During the play, Shelby consistently went above and beyond in her role. She was quick to notice when others needed extra help and always took the time to offer support. Her thoughtful, caring nature ensures she treats every pupil with kindness and respect in all her interactions.

Our school and parish joined together in prayer and in celebration of the children’s First Holy Communion. It was such a wonderful occasion and one which will stay in our memories for a very long time. Thank you so much to our families and to our staff team for helping to prepare the children so well. Our Year 6 children enjoyed an exciting session of tag rugby with pupils from St Francis’s Primary School. The children were fully engaged throughout, showing fantastic enthusiasm and developing their teamwork skills. We are very proud of how they represented our school, demonstrating St Kentigern’s values through their positive attitudes, respect for others, and excellent sportsmanship. It was wonderful to see such strong collaboration, communication, and how much fun everyone had. Thank you to Fifth Movement for organising the event and for their excellent coaching.

This week, our school’s Eco Team had an exciting opportunity to work alongside students from the University of Manchester to plan and plant new trees in the Gem Pocket garden. Together, they explored the space, shared ideas, and decided on the best places to plant trees to benefit the environment.
Planting new trees will have a wonderful impact on the area. The trees will help improve air quality, provide habitats for wildlife, and create a peaceful green space for everyone to enjoy. As the trees grow, they will also offer shade and make the garden an even more welcoming place for learning and relaxation.
We are very proud of our Eco Team for taking part in this important project and helping to make our school community greener and more sustainable!

Over the past few weeks, Year 4 has been working incredibly hard to prepare their performance of Twelfth Night. The children have shown great enthusiasm and determination as they learned their lines, developed their characters, and practised bringing Shakespeare’s language to life.
It was wonderful to see them perform in front of parents, confidently taking to the stage and showcasing all their hard work. Throughout the process, the children demonstrated a wide range of skills, including teamwork, communication, expression, and resilience. They worked collaboratively to support one another, remembered complex lines, and showed fantastic creativity in their acting.
The final performance was a real success, and the children should be very proud of how they entertained and impressed their audience.

This week’s CARITAS award goes to Aleia, who was nominated after Year 1 Staff noticed how caring and considerate she has been towards all of her peers. Throughout the school day, Aleia goes above and beyond in noticing when her peers need some extra support and always takes care to be kind to every pupil she interacts with.
