💅 Nail Care Afternoon at Wellington Lodge 💅

This week, our residents enjoyed a relaxing afternoon with our visiting nail technician. From choosing their favourite colours to having their nails treated and polished, it was a chance to sit back, enjoy some one-to-one time, and do something just for themselves.

The session was filled with conversation, laughter, and lots of personal choices, with each resident enjoying the experience in their own way. Moments like these are a simple but important part of everyday life, helping people feel comfortable, confident, and well cared for.

A big thank you to our nail technician for another lovely visit.

At Wellington Lodge, it's often the little things that bring the biggest smiles. This week, one of our residents enjoyed a visit to the Wellington Lodge Shop, taking time to browse, make personal choices, and pick out some favourite treats.

Our weekly shop is about much more than shopping. It helps residents maintain their independence, supports decision-making, encourages familiar routines, and creates opportunities for meaningful conversation and social interaction. From choosing a favourite chocolate bar to enjoying a friendly chat along the way, these everyday moments contribute greatly to wellbeing and quality of life.

Supporting choice, dignity, and person-centred care is at the heart of everything we do, and it's wonderful to see residents continuing to enjoy the simple pleasures that make each day special.

🍂✨ Autumn Crafts at Wellington Lodge! ✨🍂
This week, our residents enjoyed a wonderful afternoon of autumn-themed arts and crafts, getting creative with colorful card, handprint templates and seasonal coloring activities. 🍁🎨
There was plenty of concentration, creativity and conversation as residents worked together to create beautiful autumn decorations inspired by the changing colors of the season. ✂️🍂
Activities like these are a fantastic way to encourage creativity, maintain fine motor skills and provide valuable opportunities for social interaction, confidence and wellbeing. 🧡
We loved seeing everyone's unique creations come together, and the finished artwork certainly brightened up the day! 😊🍁

A day filled with laughter, creativity and connection at Topphome Court 💜

Residents enjoyed a special Wellness Day with therapy dogs, creative activities, gentle exercise, seated football and plenty of opportunities to chat and spend time together.

Resident Julie Hull summed it up perfectly:

“Nobody knows what someone is going through and this type of day makes a huge difference.”

It was lovely to see residents from Topphome Court and nearby Fernlea Lodge come together for a day with something for everyone.

Earlier this month, we celebrated Arts in Care Homes Day a national campaign by the National Activity Providers Association (NAPA). The campaign shines a light on the creativity, talent and imagination of people living in our care homes.

Across Anchor, residents have been getting creative in all sorts of ways – from painting, poetry and pottery to soap making, digital art and handmade wreaths.

At Sandholme Fold, resident Margaret created a beautiful piece of diamond artwork, while Geoff at The Manor House Harrogate has been sharing poetry with friends.

Residents at Moore Place explored digital art through Stories that Connect Us, while colleagues at Gills Top joined residents for soap making.

At The Firs, therapeutic art has provided another way for residents to express themselves, while at Blackbrook House, residents visited Flatford to see the work of artist John Constable.

We’ve also seen creativity bringing people together, with residents at Silver Court making welcome cards and residents at The Manor House Knaresborough creating autumnal wreaths to raise money for Happy Wanderers Ambulance Service.

These are just a few examples of the creativity happening across our care homes. Art can provide opportunities to express yourself, share experiences, connect with others and continue doing the things you enjoy.

We’re proud to celebrate the creativity of our residents – and the colleagues who help make these opportunities possible.

🌟 A Helping Hand from Patsy 🌟

This morning, our lovely resident Patsy was keen to lend a helping hand and assisted our housekeeping team by helping to push the towel trolley around the home. 🧺💜

Small acts of kindness like these help create a wonderful sense of purpose, teamwork, and community within Orchard Gardens. Patsy was delighted to get involved, and our housekeeping team certainly appreciated the extra support! 😊

Thank you, Patsy, for starting the day with such a positive attitude and for showing that every contribution, no matter how small, can make a difference. ⭐

On Monday, our residents enjoyed a visit from our in-house hairdresser, making it a wonderful day of relaxation, conversation, and a little bit of pampering! 💜

There were plenty of smiles as residents received fresh cuts, trims, and styling, leaving everyone feeling refreshed and looking their very best. 😊✂️

Regular visits from our hairdresser are not only a great way to maintain personal grooming but also provide an opportunity for social interaction and a boost to wellbeing and confidence. 🌟

🛒✨ Wellington Lodge Shopping Trolley Takes Its First Trip! ✨🛒

Our residents recently had the opportunity to try out our brand new shopping trolley service, giving them the chance to browse and choose from a selection of snacks, toiletries, and little treats from the comfort of the home. 🍫🧴🍪

The trolley may still be a work in progress (let's just say it's not quite ready for The Apprentice yet! 😄), but it was a huge hit with our residents, who enjoyed having the independence to make their own choices and pick up a few goodies.

We've also been taking requests and orders for future stock, so residents can help shape what appears on the trolley next. 📝🛍️

Promoting choice, independence, and a little bit of retail therapy is all part of helping our residents feel at home. We can't wait to continue developing this exciting new service! 💜
