Today we remember our colleague and friend FF Simon Poynton who passed away 2 years ago today.

Station life hasn’t been the same since without your grumpy smile, rest in peace brother 🚒 👨🏻‍🚒

A sad day today as we say goodbye to “Water Ladder 54” which retires from operational service after 20 years serving the community of Shirebrook! 😢🚒

WL54 was one of the first Scania appliances that Derbyshire purchased in 2005 and had an 8 seater cab allowing more firefighters to attend an incident if required.

Our replacement appliance is Water Ladder 94 which was based previously at Ilkeston 🚒

At 15:19 we were mobilised as a relief crew to assist at a large moorland fire on snake pass. 🚒

Firefighters along with partners from the Fire Operations Group (FOG) and Derby Mountain Rescue have been working hard to extinguish the fire at Snake Pass Summit throughout the day.

The fire is now under control and final fire crews have withdrawn from the area, however the situation will continue to be monitored throughout the night.

Firefighters are planned to return tomorrow, Saturday 2 May, at 06:00 hours.

🚨🚨🚨🚨🚨Announcement 🚨🚨🚨🚨🚨

We have 3 firefighters charity “CLOTHES” bins at our station that provide valuable funds to help in the rehabilitation of injured firefighters. Our bins are the most profitable in Derbyshire and one of the most profitable in the country!! Over the last few years they have raised over £20k which is a fantastic amount and we are truly grateful to the local community for their donations.

As a crew we monitor the bins daily to make sure there aren’t bags dumped outside them. Today we have removed the items pictured below that have been dumped!!!! The bins are for “CLOTHES” only, and this is clearly stated on the bins. They aren’t a dumping ground for people’s household rubbish and unwanted toys! We now have to take these items in our own time to the local tip, something which the individual that dumped them could quite easily do themselves!
