1208 Warsop Squadron

1208 Warsop Squadron With the ATC, you have the opportunity to do things that others only dream of. We’re located in the Central and East Region, Trent Wing.

1208 (Warsop) Squadron is part of the Air Training Corps, which operates under the umbrella of the Royal Air Force Air Cadets. Our motto, Pride and Achievement, drives us to offer a wide range of activities, including leadership, first aid, STEM, drill, DofE, and much more. We take pride in everything we do! Our cadets have the opportunity to attend camps, meet other young people from across the c

ountry, and make lifelong friends. The ATC is supported by Adult Volunteers and Committee Members, all of whom are trained in safeguarding and various areas of cadet training. While not all volunteers have a military background, we share a common goal: empowering young people to succeed. If you would like to join us as a cadet or adult volunteer please email us at [email protected]

3 DAYS TO GO!

5 Things You Might Not Know About Air Cadets ✈️

1. You Can Fly!
Cadets can get opportunities to experience both powered flight and gliding. It’s definitely not something you get to do at every youth organisation!

2. You don’t have to know anything about the RAF to join!
You don’t need to be an aviation expert, know how to march or have any military experience. You come along, learn as you go and get involved at your own pace.

3. It’s Not All About The RAF!
From fieldcraft and shooting to sport, STEM, navigation, DofE and outdoor activities, there’s a huge variety to get involved in.

4. You Can Gain Recognised Qualifications.
There are opportunities to work towards qualifications and awards in areas such as First Aid, leadership, communications and more.

5. You Can Become A Leader.
Leadership isn’t just something for senior cadets. As part of their initial training, cadets learn the basics of leadership, teamwork and working with others. As they progress through the Air Cadets, they can build on these skills and take on more responsibility.

Congratulations, Sgt Newton!

A huge well done to Sgt Newton, who recently spent a week at RAF Cranwell completing her Combined Initial Course (CIC).

It was a demanding and rewarding week filled with training, learning and new challenges, and she successfully passed the course!

Sgt Newton has already made a fantastic contribution to the 1208 team, and this achievement is another brilliant step in her development. We’re incredibly proud of her and excited to see all that she goes on to achieve as part of the Squadron.

Well done, Sgt Newton! CIC complete! You should be extremely proud of yourself!

Good luck to everyone receiving their A-Level results today! 🎓✨

You’ve worked incredibly hard to get to this point, so whatever those results say, be proud of yourself and everything you’ve achieved. There are so many different paths ahead, and today is just the beginning of the next chapter.

Take a deep breath, open that envelope and remember, you’ve got this! 💙

✈️ Multi Activity Camp 2026 – ✈️

Although RIAT didn’t take place this year, cadets still had an amazing week at the RAF Air Cadets Multi Activity Camp at RAF Little Rissington.

1208 (Warsop) Squadron was proudly represented by FS Taylor and CWO Dau, who joined an early start from RAF Cranwell with cadets from across Central & East Region.

The week was packed with activities including drill, leadership, shooting, archery, gliding, sports and fieldcraft, all designed to build confidence, teamwork and resilience.

A major highlight was the RAF Chinook Air Experience Flight, with around 200 cadets and staff flying over the Cotswolds – including a pass over Clarkson’s Farm!

Cadets also visited RAF Brize Norton and took part in sessions delivered by the RAF Regiment, Engineering Squadron and 3 Mobile Catering Squadron, gaining real insight into RAF life and operations.

CWO Dau said his highlights were Brize Norton, the RAF Regiment, gliding and the Chinook flight.

FS Taylor supported drill instruction across both weeks and also flew in the Chinook with cadets, making sure mascot Cpl Jetson came along too!

She said:

“Even though this was , the team worked incredibly hard to give cadets an unforgettable experience. Watching their confidence grow is exactly why we volunteer.”

A fantastic week of teamwork, new experiences and memories made – and of course, plenty of reminders to “walk with purpose!” 😄

Huge thanks to all staff and volunteers involved. We’re already looking forward to next year and hopefully supporting RIAT again!
