In April 2025, six homes on Dewar Avenue in Kincardine suffered subsidence damage linked to historical coal mining, leading to the properties being demolished last summer and the local Community Centre closing.
A year on, and our work is nearly complete. We've recently been carrying out ground stabilisation works using grout and gravel injection and we've been working with Fife Council as they decide a way forward for the Community Centre.
We continue to support residents and monitoring of Dewar Avenue and the surrounding area will remain in place until at least spring 2027.
Complex incidents like this require careful, thorough investigation before any remediation work can begin. The full extent of the underground ground conditions needs to be fully mapped before any intervention, to ensure work is safe and effective.
We know this has been a worrying and unsettling time for the Kincardine community. We're grateful for everyone's patience and understanding as we work to make the area safe.
