🍌⏰ There's less than one week to go until our new WEEKLY food waste collections start on Monday 7 September!
But have you wondered what will happen to your food waste once it's collected? 🍎🥚🍞🦴
Every time you recycle your food waste, you’ll be saving it from landfill - and turning it into something genuinely useful!
After collection, your food waste will be taken to an anaerobic digestion facility, where it’s broken down and transformed into:
⚡ Renewable energy to power homes and businesses
🚜 Nutrient‑rich fertiliser to support local farming
This video from anaerobic digestion operator BioTeCH4 shows the full journey food waste takes - from caddy to valuable resources for our region 💚
🥕 Ready to fill your caddies? Please remember:
▶️ When your kitchen caddy is full, simply tie up the liner (if you're using one) and place the food waste in your larger outdoor caddy, ready for collection.
▶️ From NEXT WEEK, put your outdoor caddy out for collection weekly - by 6am on the same day as your usual blue or green bin collection.
▶️ There's no change to your blue and green bin collections - they will continue every other week as normal.
▶️ Running low on council-issued caddy liners? Tie a liner to your outside caddy on collection day and we’ll leave you a new roll.
