Have you heard of Safe Spaces?

They are confidential, private and safe rooms where anyone experiencing domestic abuse can seek support or make a phone call to get help.

They are available in Cambridgeshire Libraries and in pharmacies, banks and selected Jobcentres nationwide – so no matter where you are, you can seek help in safety.

In the coming weeks, the Government is expected to announce what local councils in Cambridgeshire and Peterborough will look like in future.

Our area is undergoing Local Government Reorganisation (LGR) – the process by which the seven current county, district, city and unitary councils are replaced with a smaller number of new ‘unitary councils’. These will be responsible for providing all the council services you access from April 2028.

Whatever the Government decides, your services will continue as normal. Local councils remain fully operational and committed to supporting communities - especially those who need us most.

The Government is expected to confirm which new councils will be created in July 2026. We’ll keep you updated as soon as we know more.
